Job title: Junior / Trainee Chef

Location: Darwin Forest, Matlock

Salary: £13.00 to 13.25 per hour depending on experience and responsibilities

Contract: Permeant role. Minimum 20 hours per week
Although more hours will be available dependent on trade levels and development

Pinelodge Holidays is a family-owned business which operates two 5-star award winning lodge holiday parks in Derbyshire; Darwin Forest near Matlock and Sandybrook at Ashbourne.

We are recruiting a Junior Chef to assist the existing team under the guidance of the Head Chef with the responsibility for Foresters Bar & Restaurant located at our Darwin Forest site. The hours available will support mid week, evening, weekends and Bank Holidays as the Park operate all year round.

The Foresters Bar and Restaurant serves a range of delicious meals with locally sourced ingredients. Within the building we have a large designated family area, a conservatory reserved for adult diners and a large patio with adjacent playground. The kitchen has a relaxed atmosphere and friendly colleagues.

All our food is freshly cooked to order and we cater for a range of dietary requirements. We also serve daily specials, afternoon tea and offer a children's menu.

Purpose of Post:

  • To assist the Chef's and Head Chef to produce top quality food for the Foresters.
  • To assist the Chef's and Head Chef to ensure the efficient operation & cleanliness of the kitchen.

Main Duties and Responsibilities:

Food Production

  • Ensuring food quality and excellent standards are maintained for all dishes created & recipe specifications are adhered to.
  • Prepare food items in line with instruction and guidance from the senior chefs

Cost Control and Stock Management

  • Assist with the recording and monitoring of all wastage
  • Assist the Chef's and Head Chef to ensure the correct implementation of the catering procedure.

Compliance

  • Ensure correct kitchen procedures are followed
  • Checking and recording food temperatures
  • Ensure high standards of hygiene are achieved including kitchen clear down and reset.
  • Ensure that stations worked are tidy and contained..
  • Any other duties required by the needs of the business and the professional fulfilment of the role.

We are looking for someone with a passion for food and someone who is willing to learn. Although experience is desirable only a basic knowledge of cooking is required as on the job training will be provided.

Due to the location and the later finishes, it would be beneficial for candidates to have their own transport or a reliable method of transportation as we are not on a bus route.

Pay: £13.00-£13.25 per hour
