The New Inn, Halse (immediate start!!)

In September 2020 the villagers of Halse and surrounding constituencies, came together and bought The New Inn and reopened it as a community pub. With an extensive amount of refurbishment, the locals bought the life back into the pub and has become one of the highest rated pubs in the area from its contemporary modern food and drink, to the letting rooms and day time tea room.

We are on the look out for an experienced Chef, the pub is expanding its reputation at an unprecedented rate. We are looking for someone to help us grow the business and grow a chef at the same time.

Minimum 30hrs per week.

Share of tips and gratuities, 28 days paid holiday, pension scheme, and progression for the right candidate.

You will be responsible for running a section of the kitchen and backing up the other chefs on day off or annual leave and also implementing your own ideas on the menu.

You will have previous experience with cooking from scratch. Candidates with less experience but the right attitude and passion for food considered.

Where you will be working:

The position is based in an award - winning country pub and set in an idyllic countryside location, just 15mins outside Taunton. We are a small pub with 5 beautiful boutique rooms that has undergone a complete renovation. We also having a self catering apartment for hire which has been extensively modernized.

The menu offers predominantly modern British cuisine, with influences in Europe and always a seasonal approach taken to dishes. The Head chef is always uses local suppliers with the most sustainable produce available.

Preferred Experience

  • 5 years
  • Worked in a busy, fast paced pubs or hotels
  • Working with fresh food
  • Management of a small or large team
  • Upto date basic food hygiene certificate
  • Have good leadership and management skills.
  • Possess strong communication skills.
  • Demonstrate the ability to work under pressure.
  • Be available to work evenings and weekends in a full time capacity
  • Consistently deliver to high standards and adhere to all food safety regulations
  • Always think of your fellow team members and never forget that the guests are the reason we are here. We always want them to go home happy.
  • Have own transport (essential).
