Retail Sales Assistant –Customer Service Cashier Department
Pay: Up to £12.74 per hour

We focus on quality brands at competitive prices, aiming to provide excellent service and value to our customers all year round.

The Role:
We are looking for a highly motivated, customer-focused Retail Sales Assistant to join our customer service Department. You will play a vital role in delivering outstanding customer service, driving sales, and supporting effective merchandising. This is a part-time position requiring enthusiasm, reliability, and a strong work ethic.

Responsibilities:

  • Greet and assist customers in a professional and approachable manner
  • Provide knowledgeable advice and support on a wide range of seasonal products
  • Drive sales by actively engaging with customers and using persuasive sales techniques
  • Accurately process transactions using our POS system
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and well-organized retail space
  • Support daily operations including stock replenishment, pricing, and housekeeping
  • Take an active role in merchandising, ensuring products are displayed attractively and in line with promotional guidelines
  • Monitor stock levels and assist with stock rotation and layout changes
  • Work as part of a team to meet store targets and provide a positive shopping experience
  • Build strong customer relationships and encourage repeat business

Requirements:

  • Previous retail sales experience preferred, especially in seasonal or home & garden products
  • Experience or understanding of merchandising principles.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • High attention to detail and strong organisational skills
  • Able to work in a fast-paced environment and adapt to shifting priorities
  • Flexible availability including weekends and bank holidays
  • Positive attitude and a willingness to learn and grow within the role

Job Details:

  • Contract: Part-time, Permanent
  • Pay: £12.74 per hour for over 18s (17-18 £10.23, 16-17 £9.17)
  • Location: Charlies Stores Unit K Arrowpoint Way Shrewsbury SY1 3GB
