Job Overview

We are seeking a highly qualified Chartered Building Surveyor to join our professional team. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing expert advice on building maintenance, refurbishment, and compliance, ensuring projects meet legal and safety standards. This role offers an excellent opportunity to work on diverse projects within the property and construction sectors, contributing to the sustainable development and management of built environments. Duties

  • Conduct detailed surveys of existing buildings to assess condition, defects, and compliance with regulations.
  • Prepare comprehensive reports outlining findings, recommendations, and cost estimates for repairs or refurbishment.
  • Manage project timelines, budgets, and resources to ensure successful delivery of building projects.
  • Liaise with clients, contractors, architects, and other stakeholders to coordinate project activities effectively.
  • Ensure all work complies with current legislation, health and safety standards, and environmental regulations.
  • Provide expert advice on building regulations, planning permissions, and statutory requirements.
  • Oversee the procurement of materials and services necessary for refurbishment or maintenance projects.
  • Assist in the negotiation of contracts and oversee contractor performance throughout project execution.
  • Conduct post-project evaluations to ensure quality standards are maintained and lessons are learned for future projects.

Skills

  • Proven expertise in building surveying with relevant professional accreditation (e.g., MRICS or equivalent).
  • Strong analysis skills to evaluate building conditions accurately and recommend appropriate solutions.
  • Excellent organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Effective communication skills to liaise confidently with clients, contractors, and team members.
  • Proficiency in using industry-standard software programmes for surveying, reporting, and project management.
