The role

As a Lead Project Manager, you’ll have a role that’s out of the ordinary. you’ll take on a role that’s out of the ordinary. You’ll lead multiple complex projects that directly support the Royal Navy and national security, making a tangible difference to the UK’s defence capability. This is an opportunity to influence high-profile programmes, drive innovation, and develop your leadership skills in a dynamic environment.


Day-to-day you’ll be:


  • Managing customer and stakeholder relationships to ensure seamless delivery.
  • Leading integrated project teams to achieve performance targets.
  • Establishing and maintaining governance arrangements for projects.
  • Planning, monitoring, and controlling project delivery.
  • Driving continuous improvement across processes and outcomes.

This role is full time, 36 hours per week Monday to Thursday 07:15 – 16:45 and provides hybrid working arrangements.


Essential experience of the Lead Project Manager

  • Proven expertise in project management and risk management techniques.
  • Strong understanding of business processes (HR, Finance, Commercial).
  • Experience with procurement and process improvement.
  • Demonstrated leadership capability.
  • Proficiency in business applications.

Qualifications for the Lead Project Manager

  • Professional project qualification such as APM PMQ or PRINCE2.
  • Working towards or holding chartered membership of a relevant body (RICS, CIOB, CIBSE, APM, PMI) or equivalent experience.
  • Relevant HND or substantial experience in a similar role.
  • Level 5 or above Leadership and Management qualification or significant leadership experience.

Security Clearance

The successful candidate must be able to achieve and maintain Security Check (SC) security clearance for this role.
