Full job description

We’re looking for an experienced Head Chef or ambitious sous chef to lead the kitchen of a busy, independent restaurant in Inverness.

This is a hands-on role in a high-volume operation, so we’re looking for someone who enjoys being part of service as well as leading the team. You’ll take responsibility for the day-to-day running of the kitchen, maintaining consistently high standards of food, organisation and cleanliness while creating a positive and well-run working environment.

You’ll be responsible for leading and developing the kitchen team, maintaining food quality and consistency, ordering and stock control, managing food costs and wastage, kitchen rotas, food safety and working with management on menus and the continued development of the food offering.

One of the biggest advantages of this position is the working pattern. Unlike many senior kitchen roles, this is a daytime operation, offering a much better work-life balance without the regular late-night finishes normally associated with hospitality.

We’re looking for an existing Head Chef, Kitchen Manager or an experienced Sous Chef who is ready to step up. You should be organised, calm under pressure, commercially aware and, most importantly, capable of leading a team by example.

This is an excellent opportunity to take responsibility for the kitchen of a successful independent business with an established customer base and a strong team already in place.

Salary: £35,000–£40,000 depending on experience, plus share of gratuities.

Full-time, permanent.

All applications and initial conversations will be treated in strict confidence.

Pay: £35,000.00-£40,000.00 per year

Benefits:

  • Company pension
  • Discounted or free food
  • Free parking

Work Location: In person
