Job Overview

The London Kitchen is an independent, award-winning events caterer delivering exceptional food experiences across corporate events, private celebrations, luxury weddings and high-profile venues. As we continue to grow, we are looking for an experienced and passionate Head Event Chef to lead our kitchen operations and play a key role in delivering outstanding events.This is far more than a traditional kitchen role. You'll take ownership of food production from preparation through to service, leading by example both in the kitchen and on-site at events.

Working from our Hertford kitchen, you'll oversee the preparation and delivery of food for a diverse range of events across London and beyond. Every week is different, from intimate private dining experiences to large-scale corporate functions.You'll be responsible for ensuring every dish leaves the kitchen to the highest possible standard and that every event runs smoothly from a culinary perspective.

The successful candidate will be responsible for leading the kitchen team, ensuring the delivery of exceptional food quality, and maintaining high standards of food safety and hygiene. This role offers an exciting opportunity to manage diverse menus and coordinate large-scale catering for various functions, ensuring memorable dining experiences for our clients. The ideal applicant will possess strong leadership qualities, extensive culinary expertise, and a passion for hospitality.

Duties

  • Lead and supervise the kitchen team to ensure efficient food production and service during events
  • Plan and develop menus tailored to client specifications and event themes
  • Oversee all aspects of food preparation, cooking, and presentation to ensure high standards of quality and consistency
  • Manage stock levels, order supplies, and control food costs to optimise resource utilisation
  • Ensure compliance with food safety regulations and maintain impeccable hygiene standards within the kitchen
  • Coordinate with event organisers to meet specific requirements and deadlines
  • Train staff on food preparation techniques, safety procedures, and service standards
  • Monitor kitchen operations during events to ensure smooth workflow and exceptional customer satisfaction
  • Foster a positive team environment through effective leadership, motivation, and mentorship

Qualifications

  • Proven experience in a supervisory culinary role within a busy events or hospitality setting
  • Extensive background in food production, cooking, and kitchen management
  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to manage a diverse team effectively
  • Excellent knowledge of food safety standards and hygiene regulations
  • Experience in menu planning, food presentation, and catering for large events
  • Familiarity with hospitality industry practices including serving procedures and customer service excellence
  • Ability to work under pressure while maintaining attention to detail
  • Organised with excellent time management skills to handle multiple tasks simultaneously
  • Driving licence essential, as is ability to drive a regular size fridge van on occasion
