Full job description

We don't just need another chef.

We're looking for someone who genuinely loves cooking.

Someone who gets excited about great produce. Someone who cares about the details. Someone who wants to be part of a kitchen that's ambitious, creative and genuinely enjoyable to work in.

Welcome to No. Forty Nine.

A neighbourhood restaurant and wine bar in the heart of St John's Wood, serving everything from exceptional brunches and fresh seasonal lunches to buzzing evening service with incredible food, cocktails and wine.

We're independent, we're growing, and we're building something people genuinely love.

Now we're looking for an outstanding Chef de Partie to join the team.

What's the role?

You'll run your own section with confidence, consistency and pride.

Working alongside a talented senior team, you'll help deliver food that's simple, produce-led and beautifully executed. We believe the best cooking comes from great ingredients, attention to detail and chefs who genuinely care.

Every service is different.

One minute you'll be plating vibrant brunch dishes and pastries fresh from the bakery...

The next you'll be sending out beautiful seasonal sharing plates for a packed evening restaurant.

No two days are ever the same.

What you'll be doing

  • Owning your section and delivering consistently excellent food.
  • Working with fresh, seasonal ingredients every day.
  • Maintaining exceptional food quality and presentation.
  • Supporting the Sous Chef and Head Chef in daily service.
  • Helping develop new dishes and seasonal specials.
  • Keeping the kitchen organised, clean and ready for service.
  • Training and encouraging junior chefs.
  • Working as part of a close, ambitious kitchen team.

Who we're looking for

You'll probably have:

  • Experience as a Chef de Partie or a strong Demi Chef de Partie ready to step up.
  • Experience working in quality restaurants.
  • A genuine passion for cooking.
  • Great organisation and communication.
  • High standards and attention to detail.
  • The ability to stay calm under pressure.
  • A positive attitude—we work hard, but we enjoy doing it.

Why No. Forty Nine?

We're not a huge corporate chain.

We're an independent restaurant where people know each other's names, where good ideas are listened to, and where talented people have room to grow.

You'll be joining a kitchen that values quality over ego.

No shouting.

No unnecessary hierarchy.

Just passionate people producing brilliant food together.

If you're ambitious, we'll invest in you.

If you want to learn, we'll teach you.

Pay: £14.50-£15.50 per hour

Benefits:

  • Company events
  • Company pension
  • Discounted or free food
  • Employee discount
