About HERA
HERA is a Greek restaurant celebrating the rich flavours and cultural heritage of Greece. Since our opening, we have created memorable dining experiences by combining authentic Mediterranean recipes with a vibrant, welcoming atmosphere. We are now looking for a talented Head Chef to lead our kitchen and continue delivering outstanding food and hospitality.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and inspire the kitchen team in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment.
  • Ensure consistent preparation, presentation, and quality of all dishes, with a focus on Greek and Mediterranean cuisine.
  • Oversee daily kitchen operations, including stock management, ordering, scheduling, and cost control.
  • Maintain strict adherence to food safety, hygiene, and health & safety procedures.
  • Foster teamwork, collaboration, and a positive kitchen culture.
  • Develop new menu items and seasonal specials, incorporating traditional Greek flavours and contemporary techniques.
  • Ensure efficient workflow and high standards during busy service periods, including live charcoal grill and open-fire cooking.
  • Work confidently with our authentic Greek-style charcoal grill, designed to deliver intense heat, deep smoky flavours, and traditional flame-grilled results that are central to our cuisine. This is not a standard kitchen grill — it requires skill, timing, and respect for fire.

Qualifications & Skills

  • Proven experience as a Head Chef or Senior Chef in a busy restaurant, ideally Greek, Mediterranean, or grill-focused cuisine.
  • Strong leadership, communication, and team management skills.
  • Ability to remain calm and efficient under pressure.
  • In-depth knowledge of food safety regulations, HACCP, and health & safety standards.
  • Passion for Greek and Mediterranean cuisine and an understanding of culinary trends.
  • A creative mindset with a drive to innovate while respecting traditional recipes.

Interview Cooking Trial
As part of the interview process, shortlisted candidates will be invited to cook for the owner.

  • You will have the freedom to showcase your skills, creativity, and personal style.
  • All ingredients, kitchen facilities, and utensils will be provided by HERA.
  • The dish must be inspired by traditional Greek or Mediterranean cuisine.
  • You will also have the opportunity to demonstrate your technique on our authentic charcoal grill, highlighting your ability to work with live fire, manage heat, and enhance flavour through traditional grilling methods.
