The Opportunity:

Who We Are:

A vibrant two storey Tulum inspired restaurant and lounge bar, themed around the Goddess of the Moon – Ixchel. We have given it our own twist and at the heart of this concept lies the charcoal grill. Ixchel offers a full sensory experience from the second you meet the doors to our Mayan Goddess, from the interior design to the unique and delicious food that we create. Music plays a large part in our DNA too, offering curated tunes and live DJ’s. Hours of operation will be from 11am to 11pm. We are due to open our doors in the first week of October.

Who We Are Looking For:

The successful candidate will be responsible for running his/her own section within the kitchen ensuring that all dishes are prepared to the highest standards of quality. As our Chef De Partie you will be responsible for helping to oversee all aspects of preparing, cooking and presenting high quality dishes within your section. We are not only searching for a Chef De Partie, but also for you to be a dedicated and long standing member of our team. If you are passionate about Mexican cuisine and have a track record of delivering exceptional dishes, we'd love to hear from you.

What We Need To Know You Can Do:

  • Manage your section successfully in delivering existing menu items
  • Mentor your team members and help them to grow and develop as quickly as possible
  • Help in overseeing kitchen operations during busy periods
  • Prepare and execute all dishes on the menu to high standards of quality and presentation
  • Supervise and train junior chefs and kitchen staff
  • Manage food safety, hygiene and sanitation standards in the kitchen
  • Ensure quality control across all ingredients
  • Conduct stock takes alongside Senior Sous chefs and assist in monitoring stock control when necessary
  • Accountable for shift and daily temperature records (HACCP) and food labelling adherence
  • Excellent product knowledge and service skills to always achieve highest qualities during service
  • Help to identify ways of managing waste
  • Ensure equipment is used and maintained in line with completed risk assessment and cleaning rotas are adhered to and recorded
  • Promote superior culinary service within the team
  • An understanding of reports regarding cost control and expenditure

What You Must Have:

  • Minimum 3 year experience in similar role within high-end restaurant or similar environment, preferably Mexican cuisine but not essential
  • Display a positive and professional attitude at all times
  • Comfortable working within a demanding and busy environment
  • Good working knowledge of general computer/hospitality systems
  • Hardworking, self-motivated, and dedicated to our vision and company ethos, true ambassador of the brand
  • Proven experience as a commis chef in a high-end restaurant or similar environment
  • Passion for spices and an understanding of its unique flavour, profiles and ingredients
  • Strong culinary skills and knowledge of cooking techniques
  • Attention to detail and ability to work in a fast-paced environment
  • Excellent communication and organisational skills
