Job Summary
The Bushel and Strike pub in the beautiful village of Ashwell near Baldock is now under new management and are seeking a hardworking, talented and energetic Chef de Partie to join the team.

The Bushel is a completely fresh food environment making everything from scratch including bread, sauces and ice creams and all under the direction of chef patron Martin Nisbet.

Martin has worked in some of the best Hotels and restaurants in both London and France
and wants to share his knowledge with his team and build them up for a bigger and better future as well creating a fantastic pub dining experience.

Ideally you come from a fresh food background with at least 4 years experience is similar style establishments and have a genuine desire to cook great food.

Salary £30,000 per annum
plus daily share of tips

The successful candidate will play a vital role in supporting the Head Chef in managing kitchen operations, supervising staff, and ensuring the delivery of high-quality food and service. This position offers an excellent opportunity for individuals with a passion for culinary arts, leadership skills, and a strong background in food preparation and safety. The ideal candidate will have previous restaurant or quality pub experience, supervisory expertise, and an absolute commitment to excellence in hospitality.

Duties

  • Assist in the preparation and presentation of a variety of dishes, maintaining high standards of quality and consistency.
  • Supervise kitchen staff, providing guidance, training, and support to ensure efficient workflow.
  • Oversee food production processes, ensuring adherence to recipes, portion sizes, and food safety regulations.
  • Manage kitchen operations during service times, coordinating with front-of-house staff to deliver seamless service.
  • Monitor inventory levels, assist with ordering supplies, and ensure proper storage of ingredients.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organisation of the kitchen environment in compliance with health and safety standards.
  • Support the development of new menu items in collaboration with the Head Chef.
  • Uphold excellent customer service standards by ensuring timely and quality food delivery.

Experience

  • Proven supervisory experience within a professional kitchen environment.
  • Extensive background in food production, cooking, and food preparation.
  • Strong team management skills with the ability to motivate and lead staff effectively.
  • Solid understanding of food safety practices and regulations.
  • Previous restaurant experience demonstrating versatility across various culinary disciplines.
  • Experience in hospitality settings with a focus on delivering exceptional service.
  • Knowledge of serving procedures and maintaining high standards of cleanliness and organisation in busy kitchens.
