Job Overview
We are seeking a calm and skilled Sous Chef to join our culinary team in our newly opened country pub. The ideal candidate will play a vital role in supporting the Head Chef by overseeing daily kitchen operations, supervising staff, and ensuring the delivery of high-quality food and service. This position offers an exciting opportunity for a passionate culinary professional to demonstrate leadership, creativity, and a commitment to excellence within a vibrant hospitality environment. We will consider part time applicants for this role.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in the preparation and presentation of menu items, ensuring consistency and quality standards are met.
  • Supervise and manage kitchen staff during shifts, providing guidance and support to maintain efficient operations.
  • Oversee food production processes, ensuring adherence to food safety and hygiene regulations.
  • Coordinate with the Head Chef on menu development, stock control, and ordering supplies as needed.
  • Monitor kitchen cleanliness and organisation, ensuring compliance with health and safety standards.
  • Support team management by training new staff, scheduling shifts, and fostering a positive work environment.
  • Contribute to maintaining excellent customer service by ensuring timely food delivery and addressing any issues promptly.

Requirements

  • Proven experience in a supervisory role within a professional kitchen environment are preferred.
  • Strong background in food preparation, cooking techniques, and culinary arts.
  • Extensive kitchen experience with a solid understanding of food safety standards.
  • Demonstrated leadership skills with the ability to manage and motivate a team effectively.
  • Knowledge of restaurant operations, hospitality standards, and serving procedures.
  • Excellent organisational skills with the ability to work efficiently under pressure.
