Overview
Join our vibrant team as a Level 2 Qualified Nursery Cook, where your culinary expertise and leadership skills will create a nurturing and delightful dining experience for our young learners. This role offers an exciting opportunity to combine professional culinary skills with a passion for early childhood development, ensuring that every meal is nutritious, appealing, and tailored to the dietary needs of children. As a key member of our nursery staff, you will lead food preparation, manage kitchen operations, and uphold the highest standards of food safety and hygiene in a dynamic, supportive environment.

Duties

  • Prepare and cook nutritious meals and snacks in accordance with dietary guidelines and menu plans tailored for young children
  • Supervise kitchen staff and assist in training team members to ensure efficient food production and service
  • Manage inventory control, including ordering supplies, stock rotation, and minimizing waste to ensure cost-effective food management
  • Oversee food handling procedures, maintaining strict adherence to food safety standards and hygiene regulations
  • Plan menus that cater to diverse dietary requirements, including allergies and special diets, while ensuring variety and nutritional balance
  • Coordinate with nursery staff to schedule meal times, monitor portion sizes, and ensure timely food service during busy periods
  • Maintain accurate records of food production, storage temperatures, cleaning schedules, and compliance documentation

Requirements

  • Level 3 Qualified Chef certification or equivalent culinary qualification with proven experience in a professional kitchen setting
  • Strong knowledge of food safety standards, HACCP protocols, and hygiene practices within the food industry
  • Experience with menu planning, inventory management, and food service operations in a childcare or similar environment is highly desirable
  • Proven track record catering for allergies and food intolerances
