Full job description

Build Your Own Kitchen. Create Your Own Team. Lead Your Own Future.

Most Head Chef roles come with an established brigade. This one doesn't.

We're looking for an ambitious, passionate and driven Head Chef to take the reins of a kitchen that's being completely reimagined.

We've made a significant investment into a brand-new kitchen structure because we believe talented chefs deserve better. Better work-life balance. Better support. Better staffing levels. Better opportunities to succeed.

We're searching for a Head Chef who wants the rare opportunity to build a brigade from the ground up, recruit their own team, shape the culture, develop the food offering and create a kitchen they're genuinely proud to lead.

If you've ever said, "If I had my own team and the right support, I'd do things differently"... this could be your moment.

About the Hotel

This isn't your typical hotel kitchen.

Our hotel sits at the heart of a vibrant and diverse hospitality operation, welcoming guests from across the region and beyond. Alongside our restaurant offering, we host a significant programme of conferences, meetings, VIP university events, graduation celebrations, private dinners, receptions and seasonal events throughout the year.

No two weeks are the same.

One day you could be creating menus for a prestigious VIP event, the next delivering an exceptional dining experience for a graduation celebration or overseeing hospitality for a large-scale conference. The variety and pace make this an exciting opportunity for a Head Chef who thrives on delivering exceptional experiences across multiple styles of service.

This is a role for someone who enjoys both creativity and commerciality, balancing menu development and team leadership with planning ahead for a diverse and busy events calendar.

What We're Offering

Competitive Salary, based on experience

Structured 4-day working week

The opportunity to recruit and develop your own brigade

Genuine autonomy to shape the kitchen culture and food offering

A newly designed kitchen structure built around long-term sustainability

Ongoing support, mentoring and guidance from our Executive Chef

Significant investment in people, training and development

A leadership team genuinely invested in your success

The Opportunity

This isn't a maintenance role. This is a transformation role.

You'll take responsibility for:

  • Recruiting and building a high-performing kitchen team
  • Creating a positive, supportive and professional kitchen culture
  • Driving food quality, consistency and innovation
  • Developing menus and food concepts
  • Managing costs, labour and profitability
  • Leading training and development
  • Ensuring the highest standards of compliance and food safety
  • Planning and delivering food operations for conferences, events and hospitality functions

Most importantly, you'll create a kitchen people want to work in.

About You

We're looking for someone who's more than just a great chef.

You're a builder. A recruiter. A mentor. A leader people want to follow.

You may already be a Head Chef, or perhaps an exceptional Sous Chef ready for your first Head Chef position. Either way, you'll have the ambition, energy and vision to create something special.

You'll be equally comfortable leading a busy service, developing junior chefs, planning for upcoming events and working collaboratively with the wider hotel team to ensure every guest experience exceeds expectations.

Why Join Us?

The hospitality industry often talks about investing in chefs. We've actually done it.

We've redesigned our kitchen structure, committed to sustainable staffing levels and created a role that gives a talented Head Chef the opportunity to shape the future of our food operation from day one.

You'll have genuine autonomy to recruit your own team, influence menus, develop standards and build the culture you want to see in your kitchen.

But you won't be doing it alone.

You'll work closely with our experienced Executive Chef, who will support you throughout the recruitment process and beyond. From menu development and operational planning to leadership coaching and strategic guidance, you'll have the backing, resources and expertise needed to succeed.

This is the perfect role for a chef who wants the freedom to lead, the opportunity to build something special and the support of a business that is fully invested in making it happen.

Ready to Build Something Brilliant?

This is more than a Head Chef role.

It's your chance to build a team, shape a culture and create a kitchen operation you can be proud of.

Your kitchen. Your team. Your vision.

Apply today and help us create something exceptional.
