Overview
The Royal Oak, Aughton is preparing to reopen following a substantial refurbishment, and we are seeking an ambitious, experienced, and talented Head Chef to lead our kitchen team and play a key role in the next exciting chapter of our business.

This is a fantastic opportunity for a passionate chef who takes pride in delivering exceptional food, leading from the front, and creating memorable dining experiences. We are looking for someone with creativity, strong leadership skills, and the drive to establish The Royal Oak as a standout destination for quality food in the area.

Duties

  • Lead the daily operations of the kitchen, ensuring efficient workflow and high-quality food production
  • Develop innovative menus that reflect current culinary trends whilst maintaining consistency and quality
  • Supervise and manage kitchen staff, including training, scheduling, and performance evaluations
  • Oversee food preparation, cooking, and presentation to meet brand standards and customer expectations
  • Ensure compliance with food safety regulations and maintain cleanliness standards across the kitchen
  • Manage inventory levels, order supplies, and control food costs to optimise profitability
  • Collaborate with front-of-house teams to coordinate service times and special events
  • Monitor staff performance and provide leadership to foster a positive working environment
  • Maintain a high level of hospitality service by supporting team members during busy periods
  • Ensure kitchen profitability through effective cost control and wastage management
  • Maintain the highest standards of food safety, hygiene, and compliance
  • Work closely with management to help drive the success and reputation of the venue

Qualifications

  • Proven experience as a Head Chef or Senior Sous Chef ready to step up.
  • Strong leadership and team-building abilities.
  • Passion for fresh, high-quality food and menu innovation.
  • Excellent organisational and communication skills.
  • Commercial awareness with experience managing food GP and kitchen budgets.
  • A hands-on approach with the ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment.
  • Relevant food hygiene and health & safety qualifications.
