About us

Southern Lubricants Ltd, a leading Lubricant Company in the South West is looking to recruit a Site Chemical & Coolant Specialist to support our expanding team. We are looking for an individual who is well-disciplined & motivated with excellent attention to detail.

About the role

Southern Lubricants are seeking an individual for an exciting new role to work onsite in Redruth. The job will be based at a global leading facility in high-tech filtration, separation and purification. In this role, you will act as the vital technical bridge between our fluid management solutions and our customers world-class manufacturing teams. The role consists of the testing & reporting of chemicals and fluids playing a key role in keeping advanced operations running efficiently.

Hours

Monday to Thursday 7:30am until 4:45pm

Friday 7:00am until 12:30pm

Key Responsibilities

  • Onsite Fluid Management: Manage, test, maintain stock levels and optimize industrial coolants, lubricants, and chemical process fluids.
  • Routine Analysis & Testing: Conduct fluid sampling, check pH levels, monitor particulate counts, and track contamination to prevent machine downtime and extend tool life. Ensure site is safely operating under Nadcap requirements.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Serve as the main point of contact between the technical engineering team and internal quality, maintenance, and production managers.
  • System Integrity & Flushing: Oversee routine system cleanouts, coolant changes, and chemical dosing, ensuring strict adherence to environmental and safety standards.
  • Reporting & Insights: Maintain precise data logs of fluid health and deliver performance reports to stake-holders to support continuous improvement.
  • HR: You may be required to carry out other duties which utilize the skills and experience of the job holder. You will also be expected to work reasonable overtime , as is required to meet the commitments of the Business.

Essential Requirements

  • Background: Proven experience working with industrial coolants, metalworking fluids, or large-scale automotive/aerospace heat-transfer systems.
  • Technical Skills: Competency in handling basic chemical fluid analysis, using refractometers, and interpreting laboratory fluid health data. Should be familiar with titration testing and working to defined compliance-based standards.
  • IT: Competence in computer systems (Excel, word, outlook).
  • Communication: Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to confidently embed yourself into a fast-paced, corporate manufacturing environment.
  • Safety Conscious: A strict dedication to COSHH regulations, workplace health and safety, and environmental fluid disposal rules.
  • Education: A qualification in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a minimum of three to five year equivalent hands-on industrial fluid experience within a production environment.
  • Personal: A clean driving licence.
