Full job description

We are looking for a motivated and detail-oriented person to join our team working in a laboratory environment within a seafood food production factory (cockles and mussels).

This is a great opportunity to develop your career in food quality, combining both laboratory work and factory-based quality control, with full training and support provided.

About the Role

This is not just a lab-based position — you will also spend time in the factory, learning the production process and helping ensure product quality at every stage.

Your main tasks will include:

  • Checking product weight and piece counts on the production line
  • Carrying out regular quality checks to ensure product standards
  • Monitoring basic parameters such as water pH
  • Performing visual inspections in the factory
  • Supporting and guiding new operators on basic quality standards
  • Ensuring compliance with basic food safety and quality procedures (HACCP principles)
  • Organoleptic testing of product samples (sensory evaluation)

You will be expected to regularly go into the factory, not just stay in the lab, as your presence helps maintain high quality standards across the production process.

Working HoursPeak Season (July – November):

  • Approx. 8:00 AM – 6:00/7:00 PM
  • Saturday work required
  • Fast-paced and dynamic environment

Outside Peak Season:

  • Shorter, more flexible hours
  • Mainly office/laboratory work
  • Focus on documentation and quality systems
  • Saturday work not required

What We’re Looking For

  • Previous experience in a laboratory or food quality environment (preferred)
  • Basic knowledge of HACCP and food safety principles (desirable)
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Positive attitude and willingness to learn
  • Good communication skills
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team
  • Flexibility with working hours during busy periods
  • Ability to stay calm and work under pressure
  • No allergies to seafood, as organoleptic tasting is part of the role

What We Offer

  • Full training and ongoing support
  • Opportunity to develop in both production and quality systems
  • Exposure to real food manufacturing and quality control processes
  • A varied role with responsibilities throughout the year
