Job Overview

We are looking for two reliable and caring Support Workers to provide 1:1 support to a lady in her mid-50s who has a brain injury and is a wheelchair user. She lives in her own home in Middlewich, Cheshire and requires support at home and in the community to maintain her independence and enjoy the activities that are important to her.

The client is outgoing and enjoys shopping, horse racing, theatre trips and annual holidays. She has a cat, so applicants must be comfortable working in a home with pets. Duties will include support with daily routines, community access, some personal care, cooking, cleaning, and driving her wheelchair-accessible vehicle.

The role involves both day and night shifts (sleeping nights).

There are two positions available are;

  • 30 hours per week (Temporary for 6 months)
  • 36 hours per week (Permanent)

Responsibilities

  • Assist client with daily living activities such as personal hygiene, dressing, and mobility.
  • Support client with meal preparation and nutrition needs, ensuring dietary requirements are met.
  • Administer medication as prescribed, maintaining accurate records in accordance with healthcare protocols.
  • Implement behaviour management strategies to promote positive interactions and reduce agitation or distress.
  • Provide emotional support and companionship to foster a safe and caring environment.
  • Assist with light housekeeping duties to maintain a clean and safe living space.
  • Support client with driving to appointments or outings when required.
  • Monitor the clients’ health status and report any changes or concerns to healthcare professionals promptly.
  • Engage the client in therapeutic activities tailored to their individual needs, including physical exercises or recreational pursuits.
  • Follow all health and safety guidelines, including first aid procedures when necessary, to ensure the well-being of the client.

Essential Requirements

  • Previous experience in a brain injury support worker role or similar.
  • Knowledge of client care techniques specific to brain injury rehabilitation is advantageous.
  • Reliable, respectful and able to work professionally in a client’s own home.
  • Certification in first aid and CPR is preferred; training can be provided.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to work empathetically with individuals experiencing cognitive or behavioural challenges.
  • Organised with excellent attention to detail in documentation and daily routines.
  • Compassionate nature with a genuine desire to improve the quality of life for the client.
  • Right to work in the UK; we do not offer sponsorship.
  • Full UK driving licence, as staff are expected to drive the client’s wheelchair accessible vehicle.
  • Enhanced DBS, or willingness to complete one.
  • Non-smoker.

Pay: £15.00-£16.00 per hour
