Full job description
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an exceptional leader to join us in a senior executive role, helping to shape our multi-academy trust and make a meaningful difference to the young people we serve.
The Education Alliance (TEAL) is seeking to appoint a Chief Operations Officer (COO) to join our Executive Team and lead the continued development of our shared services. The successful candidate will drive operational excellence through proactive, solution-focused and responsive functions. All of this will be co-designed with our schools as true partners.
This newly created role offers an opportunity to influence how our trust operates at scale. The COO will provide strong leadership across key areas - including finance, HR, estates/facilities, IT and health and safety – to ensure our family of 12 schools is supported by an effective and flexible Shared Services Team that helps do the heavy lifting for our schools.
We are looking for a confident and motivated leader who thrives in complexity, builds high-performing teams and is dedicated to delivering services that enable our schools to thrive. If you share our commitment to strengthening operations and supporting excellence in education, we would love to hear from you.
The role is permanent, up to full-time, and will be paid on TEAL's Leadership Pay Scale, points L28 to L34 (£104,059 to £120,532 FTE)
If you are interested in working on a part-time basis, we welcome applications from candidates seeking a minimum of 0.8 FTE.
About Us
The Education Alliance brings together a diverse family of seven primary schools, four secondary schools, an alternative provision and a School-Centred Initial Teacher Training (SCITT) provider.
Together, we are driven by a shared purpose: to make great schools and happier, stronger communities so that people have better lives.
The Applicant Pack provides further details about our values and our emerging strategic goals, alongside the Job Description and Person Specification.
Why join TEAL?
- Play a key role in the next phase of our strategic development and organisational growth
- Shape a newly created executive leadership role with real influence
- Make an impact across a trust of 12 schools with over 7,000 pupils
- Build on our operational foundations by driving the reinvention of our shared services to deliver operational excellence
In return, we offer a supportive and rewarding working environment, along with:
- A culture of ethical leadership, professional trust and care, where everyone is valued
- Access to our staff benefits platform, including major brand discounts, a salary sacrifice car scheme and a cycle to work scheme
- Family-friendly policies, including enhanced maternity, adoption and neonatal pay
- Membership of the East Riding Pension Scheme with excellent long-term benefits
- A comprehensive wellbeing offer, including discounted gym memberships, free flu vaccinations, prescription support, Employee Assistance Programme and 24/7 access to a Virtual GP
Further information about The Education Alliance and our schools, along with the recruitment process, can be found within our Applicant Pack which can be accessed on the TEAL website (https://theeducationalliance.org.uk/vacancies)
Please use the "Apply on company site" button to access the digital application form. If you require an application form in an alternative format, please contact the team via recruitment@theeducationalliance.org.uk.
As part of your application, please provide a supporting statement of no more than two sides of A4 outlining how you meet the requirements of the role, and why you believe you are a suitable candidate.
The Education Alliance is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people. Clearance from the Disclosure and Barring Service will be sought prior to appointment, and we undertake an online check on all shortlisted candidates, in line with the Keeping Children Safe in Education guidance.

Pay: £104,059.00-£120,532.00 per year
