About The Role

Rubix Care Group is seeking a compassionate, experienced and highly motivated Psychologist to join our growing therapeutic team. This is an exciting opportunity to play a key role in supporting children and young people living within our residential homes who have experienced significant developmental trauma, abuse, neglect and disrupted attachments.

The successful candidate will be based primarily across our residential children’s homes, working closely alongside our care teams to embed therapeutic practice into everyday care. The role will also provide psychological support and consultation within our educational provision, ensuring a consistent therapeutic approach across both living and learning environments.

You will work collaboratively with residential staff, education colleagues and external professionals to promote emotional wellbeing, resilience and positive life outcomes for children and young people. The role combines direct therapeutic work, psychological assessment, staff consultation, formulation, training and service development.

Our children have experienced complex trauma and often present with emotional, behavioural and relational difficulties. We are looking for someone who is passionate about trauma-informed practice, understands the impact of adverse childhood experiences and can support teams to provide consistent, nurturing and psychologically informed care.

Key Responsibilities

• Ensure the needs, wishes and voice of every child remain central to all assessment, intervention and care planning.
• Undertake comprehensive psychological assessments, formulation and therapeutic intervention for children and young people living within Rubix Care Group.
• Develop evidence-based, trauma-informed intervention plans tailored to each child’s individual needs.
• Provide consultation and psychological advice to residential and education staff to support therapeutic parenting and relational practice.
• Support the development and implementation of therapeutic care plans across residential and educational settings.
• Work collaboratively with Registered Managers, Deputy Managers, Key Workers and Education staff to improve outcomes for children and young people.
• Deliver individual and group therapeutic interventions where appropriate.
• Facilitate reflective practice sessions for residential teams to enhance understanding of trauma, attachment and behaviour.
• Deliver high-quality training to residential and education staff on topics including trauma, attachment, emotional regulation, neurodiversity, developmental needs and therapeutic approaches.
• Contribute to multidisciplinary meetings, placement planning meetings, care reviews and education reviews.
• Prepare high-quality psychological reports, formulations and professional recommendations.
• Work closely with Local Authorities, CAMHS, schools, Virtual Schools, parents, carers and other partner agencies.
• Contribute to the development of Rubix Care Group’s therapeutic model and embed psychologically informed practice throughout the organisation.
• Maintain accurate, confidential clinical records in accordance with HCPC/BPS guidance, GDPR and organisational policies.
• Participate in clinical supervision, peer supervision and continuing professional development.
• Support and supervise Assistant Psychologists, Trainee Psychologists or other clinical staff where appropriate.
• Promote safeguarding and the welfare of children and young people at all times.

What We’re Looking For

Essential:

• Doctorate in Clinical Psychology, Educational Psychology or Forensic Psychology (or recognised equivalent).
• HCPC registration (or eligibility for registration).
• Experience working with children and young people who have experienced trauma, attachment disruption and adverse childhood experiences.
• Experience of psychological assessment, formulation and intervention.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Strong multidisciplinary working skills.
• Ability to build trusting relationships with children, families and professionals.
• Commitment to trauma-informed and child-centred practice.

Desirable:

• Experience within residential children’s homes.
• Experience supporting children in care or looked after children.
• Knowledge of therapeutic parenting models, attachment theory and Dyadic Developmental Practice (DDP).
• Experience of neurodevelopmental assessments and supporting children with Autism, ADHD or learning differences.
• Experience delivering staff training and reflective practice.

Pay: £40,000.00-£80,000.00 per year
