Are you passionate about improving outcomes for young people with SEND as they prepare for adulthood?

Nottinghamshire Educational Psychology Service is seeking an innovative Specialist Educational Psychologist (Transitions) to join our ambitious Experts at Hand programme. Initially focused on Post-16 transitions and Preparing for Adulthood, the role will support young people, families, colleges and partner agencies to improve participation, independence and long-term outcomes. In a later phase, the role will also support the development of transition pathways within the Early Years.

The Role

You will:

  • Lead the development of evidence-informed transition practice across Nottinghamshire.
  • Provide specialist consultation and psychological advice to young people, families, schools, settings, colleges and partner agencies.
  • Champion the voice and aspirations of young people with SEND, ensuring they shape transition planning and Preparing for Adulthood pathways.
  • Work with senior leaders in colleges and Post-16 settings to strengthen inclusive practice and improve outcomes.
  • Design and deliver training and CPD for Post-16 providers to build confidence and expertise in supporting young people with SEND.
  • Support partnerships and initiatives that reduce the risk of young people becoming Not in Education, Employment or Training (NEET) and promote successful transitions into adulthood.
  • Contribute to strategic SEND developments and county-wide improvement initiatives.

  • Lead and influence practice while remaining connected to the wider EP profession.

About You

You will be an HCPC-registered Educational Psychologist:

  • A commitment to inclusion, participation and improving life chances for children and young people.
  • An interest in Post-16 education, employment, Preparing for Adulthood and transition pathways.
  • Strong consultation, training and partnership-working skills.
  • A passion for person-centred practice and co-production with young people and families.
