Full job description
Therapeutic Carer
Salary: £32,050 starting | £33,040 after probation
Hours: Full Time – 165 hours per month
Shifts: 24–48 hour shifts (including sleep‑ins) with rest days built in
Location: Residential childcare (age 6–17)

This isn’t an easy job. You’ll support children who’ve experienced trauma, loss and rejection. Some days will be challenging. Some relationships will take time. But if you want work that genuinely matters, where therapeutic relationships can change a child’s future, and where you’re trained, supported and valued, this could be the career you’ve been looking for.
What you’ll do
- Provide one‑to‑one therapeutic care for children aged 6–17
- Build safe, meaningful relationships and act as a positive role model
- Create a home environment that feels secure, nurturing and fun
- Support education, appointments, contact and leisure activities
- Work closely with a supportive team, manager and clinical professionals
- Complete care documentation clearly and accurately
This role is for you if you:
- Are calm, resilient and genuinely care about children
- Can work flexibly across days, nights, weekends and sleep‑ins
- Hold a full UK driving licence
- Are over 21 years old (GOQ – Equality Act 2010)
