Full job description

Deputy Manager – Childrens Residential Home

Location: Oldbury
Pay: £16.00 – £18.00 per hour

Requirment: Shifts and Office Hours

At Keystone, our focus is to create a safe and nurturing environment where young people can begin to rebuild trust, feel valued, and move forward with their lives.

We are looking for an experienced Deputy Manager who truly understands the complexities of working with children with Emotional and Behavioural Difficulties. Someone who leads with empathy, remains calm under pressure and can balance structure with genuine care.

If you are passionate about achieving meaningful outcomes for young people and not just meeting targets, then this role is for you.

About the Role

  • As Deputy Manager, you will play a key role in shaping the culture of the home. You will support the Registered Manager in leading a stable, child-centred team and ensure that every young person receives consistent, high-quality care.
  • You will be hands-on, working alongside your team and building strong, trusting relationships with young people.
  • This role includes a mixture of shifts (7:00am – 10:00pm), office-based hours where required (8:30am – 4:30pm) and participation in an on-call rota.

What You Will Be Doing

  • Leading by example and creating a warm, safe, and structured home environment
  • Stepping up to manage the home in the absence of the Registered Manager
  • Supporting young people through challenges, helping them regulate emotions and develop life skills
  • Promoting positive behaviour through understanding, consistency, and clear boundaries
  • Building genuine, trusting relationships with young people
  • Supporting education, daily routines, and meaningful activities
  • Guiding and developing staff to deliver the highest standards of care
  • Ensuring records, care plans, and reports reflect the voice and progress of each child
  • Working closely with external professionals to achieve the best outcomes

About the Home

  • Our home supports young people with EBD, many of whom have experienced trauma and may present with complex needs.
  • The home has been recently refurbished to a high standard, providing a calm, comfortable, and welcoming environment — for both young people and staff. High-quality sleep-in facilities are also provided.

Who We Are Looking For

  • We are looking for someone who is not only experienced, but genuinely committed to making a difference.

You will have:

  • NVQ Level 3 or 4 in Children’s Residential Care (essential)
  • At least 12 months experience in a similar role or Senior position.
  • A full UK driving licence
  • Confidence in leading shifts and supporting staff
  • A calm, resilient approach and strong emotional intelligence
  • A genuine passion for child-centred care

What You Will Receive

  • £16.00 – £18.00 per hour (depending on experience)
  • £70 per sleep-in (if required)
  • Ongoing training and development, including CPI training
  • Clear progression pathways (including opportunities to progress to Registered Manager)
  • Supportive and experienced leadership team
  • Workplace pension scheme
  • Your birthday off
  • A high-quality working environment where your contribution is valued
