Mandarin-Speaking Sales Associates – Harrods

Location: Harrods, Knightsbridge – Central London
Salary: £14.24 per hour (£12.71 p/h + 12% holiday payment)
Contract: Zero-hour, Temporary – 3-month contract, with potential for permanent opportunities
Hours: Full-Time – 5 days per week, 37.5 hours
Start Date: From the first week of November, with additional start dates available throughout November

Candidates must hold a valid Level 2 Food Safety and Hygiene certificate or be willing to obtain one before starting work.

About the Role

You will work within one of Harrods’ prestigious Food Hall departments, supporting customers throughout the busy festive trading period.

The Harrods Food Hall is a fast-paced, high-volume environment, particularly in the run-up to Christmas. You will need to be comfortable managing multiple customer requests, working efficiently under pressure and maintaining exceptional service standards even during the busiest periods.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Delivering exceptional and personalised customer service in a busy, fast-paced environment
  • Assisting Mandarin-speaking and international customers
  • Providing product information and recommendations
  • Managing multiple customer requests efficiently and professionally
  • Supporting stock replenishment and back-of-house operations
  • Maintaining excellent presentation and standards during busy trading periods
  • Assisting with packaging and department set-up
  • Working quickly and efficiently while maintaining attention to detail
  • Creating memorable experiences for Harrods’ diverse global clientele
  • Working collaboratively as part of a high-performing team

Please note: Candidates must be comfortable handling all types of food and beverages and must not have any food allergies that could be impacted by working in a retail food environment.

About You

We are particularly interested in candidates who enjoy working in fast-paced, busy environments and are used to maintaining a high standard of service under pressure.

You will ideally:

  • Be fluent in Mandarin
  • Have previous experience in retail, hospitality, food & beverage or customer service
  • Be comfortable working in high-volume, fast-paced environments
  • Enjoy being busy and working at pace
  • Be able to remain calm, positive and professional under pressure
  • Be confident managing multiple customers and priorities at the same time
  • Have excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Be confident interacting with an international and luxury clientele
  • Be energetic, proactive and customer-focused
  • Have immaculate grooming, presentation and communication skills
  • Be physically capable of handling stock and deliveries where required
  • Be flexible to work weekends, evenings and key Christmas trading days
  • Have an interest in food, wine, spirits or luxury retail
  • Previous luxury retail experience is desirable but not essential

This role would suit someone who genuinely enjoys the energy of a busy retail environment, is not intimidated by high footfall and gets satisfaction from delivering great service when things are moving quickly.
