Job Title: General Assistant (Meat & Fish)
Training Location: Chinatown / Tottenham / Alperton / Stratford
Work Location: Alperton (HA0 1HQ)
Salary: £ 13.00/hr + £0.70 allowance
Reports To: Supervisor, Team Leader, Deputy Manager, Store Manager

Job Description:

Duties include but not limited to:

  • Cut and trim Meat and Fish from larger, wholesale portions into steaks, chops, roasts and other cuts. weighing, wrapping and putting products on display with the correct price label
  • Serve customer’s requests such as preparing special cuts of meat upon request
  • Use sharp tools such as knives, grinders or band saws in line with the company’s food safety guidelines as well as hygiene standards especially when cleaning equipment, counter tops, and working areas to prevent Meat and Fish contamination
  • Be aware of any product that is out of stock and report to the store management team immediately
  • Ensure the department to be organised according to the company’s visual merchandising standards
  • Make sure the stocks are in rotation. Such as first in first out (short dated item in front and longer dated item in the back)
  • Work with other colleagues to process and receive deliveries. This includes checking the quantity , quality and BBD, as well as organising, displaying and placing the stocks neatly
  • Check the storing temperature in order to keep meat & fish to be fresh
  • Review pricing of all meat & fish in relation to sales records and make amendments as needed
  • Work with other colleagues to keep your working area clean and organised
  • Report all safety hazards and risk factors to a member of the store management team without delay
  • Take initiative and support other departments when needed or when requested by store management team

Essential Skills & Requirements:

  • Strong communication, task management, and customer service skills
  • Attentive to the stock replenishment
  • Heavy lifting up to 25 kg
  • Comfortable handling with fresh meat & fish including pork
  • Have knowledge of meat and fish preparation technique cuts will be desirable
  • Have knowledge of food safety & hygiene will be desirable
  • Previous experience in a butcher / seafood environment will be an advantage

Must have the legal right to work in the UK (without sponsorship)
