The Opportunity

We are looking for an enthusiastic, proactive, and community‑focused Neighbourhood Officer to join our Neighbourhoods team at Calico Homes. This role is central to ensuring our neighbourhoods are safe, thriving, and supportive places to live. You will act as a visible presence within our communities, building strong relationships and delivering high‑quality housing services that put our customers at the heart of everything we do.

As a Neighbourhood Officer, you are essential in bridging the gap between Calico Homes and the communities we serve. You will play a key role in shaping positive customer experiences, building trust, and ensuring our neighbourhoods are places where people feel safe, supported, and proud to live.

Your ability to listen, respond, and champion customer voices will directly influence how we grow, adapt, and improve our services.


Day in the life of a Neighbourhood Officer

  • Letting properties using choice-based lettings and pathways to housing
  • Gathering evidence for pre tenancy checks and working with internal teams to agree suitability
  • Completing periodic home visits with customer to offer support and check the tenancy is being conducted correctly
  • Referring customers to internal and external teams where required
  • Completing tenancy amendments
  • Being responsive to customer queries and tasks
  • Maintaining a caseload of good neighbourhood management cases
  • Be visible in Neighbourhoods to build positive relationships
  • Making sure all IT systems are updated accurately and timely

Essential:

  • Excellent communication skills
  • Experience working within social housing, community development, neighbourhood management, or a similar customer‑facing role.
  • Experience supporting community‑led initiatives or facilitating resident involvement activities.
  • A passion for providing exceptional customer service
  • A flexible and innovative approach to service delivery
  • Self-motivated and a keen team player
  • Car user

Desirable:

  • CIH Housing management qualification
  • Housing and estate management including voids/lettings, problem solving, tenancy management.
  • Ability to work successfully within team and partnership settings both with internal Calico colleagues and external stakeholders.
  • Proficient use of Microsoft Office packages such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams and Outlook
