Summary

We're looking for a part-time production assistant to join our team at our roastery in Welwyn Garden City.

The production team is an important part of supplying high quality, delicious coffee on time to our online and wholesale customers.

The role supports the daily operations of the coffee roasting facility. You will be preparing, packing and labelling our range of roasted coffee for wholesale and retail orders. The role also involves general warehouse cleaning and maintenance, to ensure efficient production of coffee that meets high quality standards.

Please note that the role is quite physical - it involves a lot of lifting and packing.

Working hours: 8:30am to 4:30pm (with a paid 30 minute lunch break), two to three days a week (Monday-Friday).

Easy commute: You live within 30 minutes of our roastery in Welwyn Garden City (reliable early starts are part of the role).

Key responsibilities:

Supporting the roasting process to execute the daily production plan and support on-time dispatch with delivery providers. This involves:

• Weighing out the green coffee to be roasted
• Using the colour sorter machine to sort the roast coffee
• Labelling, dating, packing and fulfilling the roasted coffee accurately and efficiently, and with high attention to detail using our scales and sealing machine.
• Machinery cleaning: executing daily and weekly cleaning of equipment and machinery
• Roastery floor orderliness & cleanliness: ensuring that all production items have a place and are organised well for the workflow, keeping high standards of cleanliness and tidiness on the production floor.
• Stock control: Maintaining accurate daily stock and carrying out monthly stock takes to assist with availability planning.
• Capable of working independently, using initiative to balance and prioritise competing tasks.
• Curiosity about coffee and enthusiasm for learning new skills, with flexibility to take on new responsibilities as the business grows.

Key skill / requirements:

• Strong organizational skills, attention to detail and commitment to quality
• Organisation and efficiency, and ability to follow procedures accurately and meet deadlines.
• Comfortable working alone, and with just one or two other persons.
• Comfortable with working to tight daily courier and production deadlines
• Ability to undertake physical work (including supporting one other person to lift 60kg coffee sacks).
• Ability to handle repetitive tasks.
• Proof of the right to live and work in the UK.
• Experience working in a roastery or food production environment (ideal but not required)
• Driver’s licence (ideal but not required)
