Emtec Utility Services is helping drive the transition to a more sustainable future by delivering innovative engineering solutions across the energy sector. From renewable energy infrastructure to grid-scale developments, our teams are building the foundations for tomorrow’s energy systems.
With an impressive pipeline of work and ambitious plans for growth, we’re looking for an experienced Civil Engineer to join our team at our Uddingston HQ with regular travel to sites throughout the UK.
This is an exciting opportunity to work on a varied range of projects while gaining exposure to new and developing technologies across the renewables, utilities and infrastructure sectors.
The Role
As Civil Engineer, you’ll play an important role throughout the full project lifecycle, developing practical civil engineering solutions and providing technical support from initial design through to construction.
You’ll work closely with consultants, contractors and internal project teams to ensure civil works are safe, compliant, buildable and delivered in line with project requirements.
What You’ll Be Doing
-
Designing civil solutions for renewable energy and infrastructure projects.
-
Producing calculations, drawings, specifications and technical reports.
-
Developing earthworks, drainage, access road, foundation and retaining structure designs.
-
Coordinating site surveys and supporting planning and regulatory approvals.
-
Reviewing consultant and subcontractor designs for compliance and buildability.
-
Supporting construction teams with technical queries and design changes.
-
Identifying engineering risks and contributing to constructability reviews.
-
Ensuring all work meets CDM, safety, environmental and industry standards.
-
Promoting a strong safety-first culture across all projects.
What We’re Looking For
-
Previous civil engineering experience within energy, utilities, infrastructure or another relevant sector.
-
An HNC, HND, degree or equivalent qualification in Civil Engineering.
-
Experience developing civil designs and producing technical calculations, drawings and reports.
-
A good understanding of earthworks, drainage, roads, foundations and associated civil infrastructure.
-
Chartered Engineer status or a commitment to working towards chartership.
-
Experience within renewable energy or power distribution would be advantageous.
-
A sound understanding of CDM Regulations and design risk management.
-
Strong technical, problem-solving and organisational skills.
-
The confidence to work effectively with clients, consultants, contractors and project teams.
-
A full UK driving licence and willingness to travel to sites throughout the UK.
What’s In It for You
-
Attractive Salary Package: Based on your skills and experience.
-
Generous Holidays: 33 days’ holiday, inclusive of public holidays, increasing with length of service.
-
Holiday Purchase/Sell Scheme: Additional flexibility to suit your needs.
-
Contributory Pension Scheme: Secure your future with our contributory pension plan.
-
Life Assurance: Peace of mind for you and your family.
-
Development Opportunities: Excellent training and support, including the opportunity to work towards chartership.
-
Wellness Support: Access to our Employee Assistance Programme and wellness portal.
-
Exclusive Discounts: Benefit from our Employee Discounts Platform.
You’ll be joining a supportive and down-to-earth team, with the opportunity to contribute to exciting infrastructure projects as the business continues to grow.
Emtec Group is an equal opportunities employer. We’re committed to creating an inclusive environment where everyone feels valued, supported and able to thrive.
If you’re ready to help engineer the infrastructure behind the UK’s energy future, we’d love to hear from you.
