Quantity Surveyor – Groundworks & Civils

Based at Ston Easton, Somerset | Full-Time | Competitive Salary

Pennys Group – a trusted name in civil engineering, demolition, and groundworks across the South West – is expanding. Due to continued commercial success and a strong pipeline of secured projects, we are looking for a Quantity Surveyor to join our dedicated Groundworks and Civils team.

This is a fantastic opportunity to work for a progressive and growing business where your contribution will make a real impact across projects ranging from £50,000 to £3.5 million in value.

About the Role

As Quantity Surveyor, you will take ownership of the commercial aspects of multiple projects and play a vital role in supporting our continued growth. You will report to the Commercial Manager and be part of a supportive and driven team at our Ston Easton head office.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage the commercial elements of projects from start to final account.
  • Prepare and submit applications for payment in a timely manner.
  • Price and collate variations throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Interpret and work from technical drawings.
  • Produce accurate cash flow forecasts and financial reports as needed.
  • Ensure certifications and payments are obtained in accordance with subcontract agreements.
  • Negotiate and settle final accounts with clients and subcontractors.
  • Monitor and collect retention payments.
  • Liaise with site supervisors, subcontractors, and suppliers regarding commercial matters.

What We’re Looking For

  • Experience in the Groundworks or Civils sector is preferred, but not essential.
  • Strong commercial awareness and understanding of contract terms.
  • Excellent communication and negotiation skills.
  • Ability to interpret drawings and technical documentation.
  • A proactive, positive attitude with a collaborative approach.
  • Confident in working within a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.
