Job Summary

We are seeking a dedicated and energetic School Cleaning Operative to maintain a clean, safe, and welcoming environment for students, staff, and visitors. In this role, you will be responsible for performing a variety of cleaning tasks across school premises, ensuring high standards of hygiene and cleanliness are consistently met. Your proactive approach will contribute to a positive learning atmosphere and uphold health and safety regulations within the school setting.

Responsibilities

  • Perform routine cleaning duties including sweeping, mopping, dusting, vacuuming, and disinfecting classrooms, hallways, restrooms, and communal areas.
  • Maintain cleanliness of all surfaces, fixtures, and equipment to meet hygiene standards.
  • Restock supplies such as soap, paper towels, and toilet rolls to ensure availability at all times.
  • Follow health and safety procedures diligently during all cleaning activities to prevent accidents or contamination.
  • Report any maintenance issues or damages promptly to ensure timely repairs and safety compliance.
  • Use commercial cleaning equipment safely and effectively to achieve optimal results.
  • Support the school’s overall cleanliness initiatives by adhering to scheduled cleaning routines and special event requirements.

Skills

  • Proven experience in commercial cleaning or janitorial roles is highly desirable.
  • Strong attention to detail with the ability to work efficiently both independently and as part of a team.
  • Good understanding of health and safety regulations related to cleaning practices.
  • Ability to operate cleaning machinery such as floor scrubbers or carpet cleaners is a plus.
  • Excellent time management skills with the capacity to prioritize tasks effectively.
