Full job description
We are looking to appoint a Cleaning Assistant /Lunchtime Assistant who is dynamic and highly motivated, who has an experience of providing a high-quality standard of cleaning and experience of supervising children and young people with autism, severe learning disabilities and complex needs.
Pay Rate: £18,907.20 per annum(£12.12 per hour)
Working Hours: 30 hours a week between Monday – Friday (8.00am -2.00pm)

The Role
The cleaning assistant /lunchtime assistant will work under the direction of the director of operations and collaborate with other members of the senior leadership team to provide a high-quality standards of cleaning and to ensure that pupils are adequately supervised and supported during lunch time period. To contribute to the overall development of the children and young people appropriately as when required.
Key duties include:
- To provide high standards cleaning to all allocated rooms, including bedrooms, bathrooms, toilets, communal stairs and landings, lounge, activity room, front entrance of the home and etc.
- To ensure that all cleaning is carried out hygienically in accordance with the cleaning policies and procedures.
- Supervising the pupils correctly throughout the lunchtime, in particular helping the children and young people in cutting/consuming food, hand washing and toileting arrangements.
Attending to emergency situations such as spilt drinks and food on any surface.
- Promote children and young people’s choice, independence, dignity, privacy and fulfilment of other rights.
- Supporting to supervise the children and young people’s in the playground or in the school building as when required.
- Dealing with behaviours of concern in line with the Witham Prospect School Behaviour Management Policy.
- Clean all spillages, (which could include bodily fluids) and ensure that the dining area is clean at the end of the lunchtime period.
Criteria for all Applicants include:
- Previous experience as a Cleaning Assistant.
- Previous experience in supporting children and young people with severe learning disabilities and complex needs.
- Ability to work alone without supervision.
- General experience of working in residential care/school setting.
- Good hygiene practice, including personal hygiene and smart appearance.
- Ability to stay calm whilst managing any behaviours of concern.
- Caring and compassionate towards people in need of care and support.
- Self –motivated and keen to learn.
- Ability to follow a work pattern and willing to seek guidance when needed and follow instruction.
- Excellent time keeper, reliable and honest.
- Understanding of responsibilities under HSAW Act. COSHH, Infection Control and hygiene policies, Health and Safety, Emergency and Fire Procedures and other relevant legislation related to job responsibilities.
- Able to act in a professional manner at all times ensuring.

- Driver essential with Full UK Drivers Licence.
