About the role

Are you an experienced cleaning professional with strong leadership skills? Leeds University Union (LUU) is looking for a Cleaning Lead to oversee our cleaning and waste management operations. You will lead our team, maintain high hygiene standards, and ensure a clean, safe, and welcoming environment for all students, staff, and visitors.

Key Responsibilities

  • Team Leadership: Supervise, train, and schedule the cleaning team to ensure efficient daily coverage.
  • Operations & Quality: Oversee cleaning operations, perform regular safety/cleanliness audits, and maintain high standards across all building areas.
  • Budget & Resources: Manage the cleaning and waste management budget, monitor stock levels, and order eco-friendly supplies.
  • Safety & Compliance: Ensure full compliance with Health & Safety, COSHH regulations, and waste management policies.
  • Collaboration: Work with internal teams to handle special cleaning requests and support building opening duties when required.

What We’re Looking For

  • Previous experience in a cleaning supervisory or team lead role.
  • Strong knowledge of Health & Safety, COSHH, and waste management practices.
  • Excellent organizational and staff management skills (rotas, performance, training).
  • A customer-focused mindset with strong communication skills.
  • Flexibility to assist with building coverage as needed.
