JOB DESCRIPTION - KITCHEN ASSISTANT

Reports to: Head Chef

Hours: 4 days per week (Wednesday – Saturday), Approximately 30hrs per week

Salary: £11.54 per hour

Location: Pentonbridge Inn, Penton, Carlisle, Cumbria, CA6 5QB

OVERVIEW:

We are now recruiting for a Kitchen Assistant to join our Pentonbridge Inn Kitchen team, who are the backbone our Food & Beverage Operations. An award-winning 3AA rosette and 5 AA gold star and Michelin star restaurant with rooms. This is a fantastic opportunity to be part of our team. We are located 6 miles from Longtown, so you must be able to get to us without public transport.

The Kitchen Assistant is primarily responsible for ensuring kitchen cleanliness, basic food preparation, maintaining kitchen organisation, and appropriately storing washed dishes, utensils, and cooking equipment. This is the perfect position for someone looking to start a career in hospitality.

To be successful as a Kitchen Assistant, you should display excellent communication skills and be able to follow instructions. Shifts will include days, evenings, and weekends.

PURPOSE OF THE ROLE:

· Carrying out basic cleaning tasks as fast as possible

· Collecting and washing up pots and pans and any other cleaning equipment

· Cleaning crockery & cutlery and ensuring food preparation sites are clean and ready.

· Making sure work surfaces, floors and walls are always clean and sanitised

· Ensuring that refrigerators, freezers, and storage areas are clean and organised.

· Assisting the Chef with basic food preparation, which includes washing, peeling, and cutting meal ingredients as per the Chef’s instructions.

· Responsible for maintaining the hygiene of the main catering areas to enable the delivery of high standard catering services in adherence with all health & safety/food safety regulations and best practice.
