Job Title: School Cleaner

Location:Knayton, Thirsk

Pay Rate: £12.71 per hour

Hours: 20 hours per week (Monday to Friday)

Working Pattern: Anytime after 16:00, 36 Weeks a year.

Contract Type: Part time

About the Role

We are seeking a reliable, thorough, and hard-working Cleaner to join our supportive school site team. You will play a vital role in keeping our learning environment clean, safe, and welcoming for students, staff, and visitors.

Key Responsibilities

  • Vacuuming, sweeping, and mopping floors across classrooms, hallways, and communal areas.
  • Dusting, wiping down desks, tables, door handles, and high-touch points.
  • Cleaning and sanitising washrooms, toilets, and staff facilities.
  • Emptying waste bins and ensuring proper disposal of rubbish and recycling.
  • Replenishing soap, paper towels, and toilet rolls.
  • Maintaining cleaning equipment and ensuring chemicals are stored safely.
  • Reporting any maintenance issues or damages to the Site Manager.

What We Are Looking For

  • Previous commercial or school cleaning experience is preferred, but training will be provided for the right candidate.
  • Strong attention to detail and pride in your work.
  • Ability to work independently as well as part of a friendly team.
  • Good timekeeping and reliability.
  • Knowledge of basic health and safety or COSHH standards is an advantage.

Requirements

  • DBS Check: An Enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check is essential for this role. The school will assist with this application if needed.
  • Proof of eligibility to work in the UK.
