Job Title: Domestic Cleaner
Location: Smallbrook School, Shrewsbury, SY4 3HE
Hours: 20 hours per week | Monday–Friday | 3pm - 7pm
Salary: £11,660 per annum (not pro rata)
Contract: Permanent | Term Time Only
Start: October 2026

About the Role

Please note:
- Term Time: Monday to Friday, 3:00pm – 7:00pm
- Employees are also required to work the equivalent of two weeks during school holiday periods.
- Holiday working dates will be agreed in advance and may involve longer shifts (for example 9:00am – 5:00pm) to complete contracted hours over fewer working days.
What you will be doing
- Take pride in creating a clean, safe and welcoming environment where pupils and colleagues can thrive every day.
- Maintain exceptional standards of cleanliness across classrooms, offices, communal areas and other allocated spaces.
- Carry out a range of cleaning duties, including vacuuming, mopping, dusting, sanitising and waste disposal, ensuring every area is ready for learning.
- Follow cleaning schedules and health & safety procedures to deliver consistently high standards.
- Play a key role in promoting a healthy, safe and caring environment for children and young people.
- Identify and report any maintenance issues or health and safety concerns promptly to the Facilities Manager.

About Us
Smallbrook School is currently increasing capacity from 50 students to 80 and having a large investment in our school site developing KS2 and sixth form provision. We are a co-educational day school catering for pupils aged 7-18 with a range of complex needs including a range of social, emotional and mental health needs and also pupils who have been diagnosed with autism or demonstrate behaviours associated with autism.
