Applications are invited for a full-time, fixed term (3 years) Adventurous Training Instructor.

Overview
The Adventurous Training Instructor will deliver safe, high-quality Adventurous Training (AT) activities to RAFAC cadets and adult volunteers, fostering personal development and resilience. In addition to delivery, you will play a critical role in maintaining safety standards by undertaking AT assurance across RAFAC, ensuring robust adherence to our Safe

Systems of Work.

Responsibilities

  • The principal areas of accountability, including key tasks and duties include:

· Deliver adventurous training (AT): Plan, deliver and supervise safe engaging adventurous training activities across a range of disciplines (climbing, paddle sport, trekking, and mountain biking.)

  • Maintain professional standards: Ensure all training meets required safety, assurance and regulatory standards, including MOD, RAFAC Air Cadet Training Orders (ACTOs) and National Governing Body (NGB) guidelines for AT.
  • Train and Assess: Provide training and assessment for workforce working towards recognised NGB qualifications.
  • Conduct assurance activities: Undertake assurance checks locally and nationally to verify the quality and safety of AV delivery.
  • Maintain technical currency: Keep personal qualifications current and act as a subject matter expert in relevant AT disciplines.
  • Support events and expeditions: Contribute to the planning and delivery of AT events, camps and expeditions across the organisation.
  • Mentor and upskill volunteers: Provide mentoring and skills development for adult volunteers involved in AT delivery and supervision.

Requirement

Essential.

  • Recognised National Governing Body (NGB) qualifications in two or more adventurous training disciplines (Climbing, Paddle sport, Mountain Biking, or Trekking.
  • Proven experience delivering outdoor or adventurous training to young people and adults in a structured, safety-focused environment. DRAFT
  • Experience in AT delivery and AT assurance, with a working knowledge of Safe Systems of Training.
  • Strong organisational and risk management skills, with the ability to assess dynamic environments.
  • Ability to obtain Security Clearance (SC) and an Enhanced Criminal Record Certificate (DBS).
  • Driving licence (car essential, minibus D1 preferred)

Desirable.

  • Understanding of MOD Adventurous Training policy and governance.
  • Ability to drive minibuses including commercial trailer within military licensing policy
  • Experience of carrying out equipment inspections and monitoring processes.
  • Experience in planning and delivering large-scale training events or expeditions
  • Duke of Edinburgh Award Gold Expedition Assessor
  • Willingness to work towards additional NGB qualifications

Additional Requirements

This role may require occasional travel throughout the UK.
