About the Role

Do you hold a National Clinical Coding Qualification (ACC)?

Do you have post-qualification clinical coding experience within a healthcare environment, including data quality improvement activities?

Our Client is seeking an experienced Clinical Coding & Data Quality Supervisor to join their Clinical Coding and Data Quality team on a temporary basis. This is an excellent opportunity for an accomplished clinical coding professional to provide leadership, mentorship, and operational support while helping to improve coding accuracy, data quality, and organisational performance.

Working closely with coding teams, data quality specialists, and operational stakeholders, you will ensure that clinical activity is accurately coded, data quality issues are identified and resolved, and national coding standards are consistently applied.

Key Responsibilities

  • Supervise and support Clinical Coders and Data Quality Officers.
  • Assist with the day-to-day management of clinical coding and data quality functions.
  • Provide guidance on coding queries, audits, and data quality corrections.
  • Ensure coding is completed accurately and within required timescales.
  • Support the development and implementation of coding audit programmes.
  • Conduct reviews and validation exercises to identify training needs and promote best practice.
  • Investigate data quality concerns and implement corrective actions.
  • Support the education of clinical and non-clinical staff on the importance of accurate coding and data quality.
  • Assist with the maintenance of coding policies, procedures, and quality standards.
  • Contribute to service improvement initiatives and compliance requirements.

About You

  • National Clinical Coding Qualification (ACC) is essential.
  • Significant post-ACC Clinical Coding experience, ideally across a broad range of specialties.
  • Strong understanding of ICD-10, OPCS, clinical coding standards, and coding audit processes.
  • Experience identifying and resolving data quality issues.
  • Understanding of HRGs and associated financial flows.
  • Experience supervising, mentoring, or supporting coding teams.
  • Excellent communication, organisational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work under pressure while maintaining accuracy and meeting deadlines.
  • Strong understanding of confidentiality, information governance, and data protection requirements.
