Clinical Compliance and Quality Lead – Specialist Community NHS Services

Salary: £45,000 + travel allowance for clinic visits

Location: South London

Hybrid | Full-Time | Permanent | Travel Required

Are you a clinically credible leader with a passion for training, governance and regulatory compliance?

Do you enjoy developing clinical teams, embedding professional standards and helping services remain inspection-ready?

We are partnering with an independent healthcare provider delivering NHS community services across London and the South East. As the organisation continues to grow it is looking to strengthen its clinical governance and regulatory assurance, they are looking to appoint a Clinical Compliance and Quality Lead to support safe, effective, caring and well-led services across their clinical teams.

This is a brand-new role, reporting into the Clinical Director where you will sit within an existing quality team of four people who conduct clinic inspections across different areas, providing clinical guidance and mentorship while working closely with the Clinical Director to implement deeper investigations, support initiatives and practice improvements.

The Opportunity

As Clinical Compliance and Quality Lead, you will be accountable for training and developing a competent clinical team capable of delivering CQC and wider regulatory compliance at location level.

This is a clinically focused position centred on education, professional standards and governance rather than operational line management. You will translate regulatory requirements into practical, role-specific expectations for Nurses and other AHCPs, helping teams understand, evidence and confidently demonstrate compliant practice during inspections, walkarounds and audits.

The role offers substantial progression and development opportunities, with genuine scope to influence clinical standards, inspection readiness and workforce development across a growing community healthcare provider.

Key Responsibilities

  • Act as the clinical lead for embedding CQC and other regulatory standards into routine practice across all locations
  • Translate regulatory standards into practical, role-specific expectations for the clinical team
  • Work directly with clinical teams to ensure they understand their responsibility for maintaining, monitoring and evidencing compliance locally
  • Enable teams to confidently demonstrate compliant practice during inspections, clinical walkarounds and audits
  • Use training, supervision and competence assurance to improve compliance and inspection outcomes
  • Provide visible clinical leadership for Nurses and other AHCPs, promoting patient safety, dignity, safeguarding and effective care
  • Act as a role model for professional behaviour and NHS values
  • Support clinical team members to practise safely within defined scope and escalate concerns appropriately
  • Lead recruitment of Nurses and other AHCPs, with a focus on clinical values, aptitude, patient-centred care and compliant in-clinic practice
  • Support safe staffing, appropriate skill mix and future workforce development through effective recruitment decisions
  • Promote inclusive recruitment and progression pathways for clinical team members
  • Support the design and delivery of structured, clinically robust induction programmes
  • Ensure competence assessment, sign-off and reassessment are clinically meaningful, consistent and auditable
  • Support and develop AHCPs as local educators, mentors and role models
  • Work with the Clinical Director and Quality Team to ensure training content is mapped to CQC expectations and clinical risk
  • Monitor clinical training compliance and take targeted action where gaps present a risk to patient safety or regulatory compliance
  • Support locations to maintain continuous inspection readiness through clinical competence and practice
  • Participate in mock inspections and preparation activities
  • Support action plans following inspections, audits or incidents, with a focus on education and practice change
  • Use incidents, complaints, audits and patient feedback to identify learning needs and drive in-clinic improvement
  • Contribute to governance and quality forums
  • Support the development and review of clinical policies, SOPs and guidance relating to in-clinic regulatory compliance

About You

  • Registered healthcare professional, ideally a clinical nurse with an active NMC PIN
  • Minimum two years of relevant experience
  • Experience recruiting, educating and supporting Nurses and other AHCPs
  • Strong working knowledge of CQC and other regulatory standards and how they apply to frontline clinical practice
  • Ability to influence practice and embed compliance through clinical leadership rather than direct operational control
  • Strong communication, mentoring and stakeholder engagement skills
  • NHS experience would be highly desirable
  • Experience in community services, dermatology or ENT settings would be advantageous
  • Teaching, training or practice educator qualification such as AET or TAQA would be beneficial
  • Experience supporting services through CQC inspections would be advantageous
  • A patient-centred approach with a strong commitment to equality, diversity, safety and professional standards

Salary & Benefits

  • Basic salary of £45,000
  • NHS Pension
  • 28 days annual leave
  • Paid additional training to support career development
  • Employee wellbeing programme
  • Blue Light discount
  • Flexible working
  • Free breakfast on Wednesdays
  • Free drinks on Thursdays
  • Social events
  • In-house challenges with gift card rewards
  • Hybrid working pattern of approximately three days in head office and two days from home (Clinic visits count as in-office days)
  • Travel allowance provided for clinic visits
  • Brand-new role with the opportunity to shape clinical compliance and training across the organisation
  • Substantial progression and development opportunities

Location: South London, Croydon. Hybrid, with three days in head office and two days from home. Commutable from London, Surrey, Kent, Essex, Hertfordshire, Sussex and the surrounding areas.
