Job Description:

Wayman Education is seeking to appoint a talented, enthusiastic, and dedicated Psychology Teacher on behalf of a highly successful secondary school in Norfolk. This full-time, permanent position commences in September 2026.

The school successfully combines high academic expectations with a warm, inclusive culture where both students and staff are encouraged to thrive. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Psychology Teacher looking to join a successful Social Sciences faculty, or an ambitious Early Career Teacher (ECT) seeking exceptional support and development within a collaborative department.

The Role & Department

Curriculum Delivery: Teach Psychology across Key Stage 4 and Key Stage 5 (A-Level), with opportunities to contribute to wider Social Sciences teaching where appropriate.

Pedagogical Approach: Deliver engaging, academically challenging lessons exploring psychological theories, research methods, human behaviour, memory, attachment, psychopathology, social influence, and biopsychology through discussion, critical analysis, and evidence-based enquiry.

Departmental Culture: Join a supportive and forward-thinking Social Sciences team that values collaboration, shared planning, innovative teaching, and consistently high standards.

Student Engagement: Teach motivated, inquisitive students who enjoy exploring human behaviour, debating contemporary psychological issues, and developing strong analytical and evaluative skills.

Outstanding Support for ECTs

The school has developed an excellent reputation for supporting new teachers and ensuring they build confidence from the very beginning of their careers.

  • A carefully structured induction programme with dedicated one-to-one mentoring.
  • Regular opportunities to observe experienced practitioners and receive constructive coaching.
  • Collaborative planning, high-quality CPD, and ongoing professional development.
  • A strong commitment to staff wellbeing and maintaining a manageable workload.

Key Responsibilities

  • Plan and deliver high-quality Psychology lessons that inspire curiosity and academic success.
  • Prepare students thoroughly for GCSE (if applicable) and A-Level Psychology examinations.
  • Develop students' critical thinking, research, analytical, and evaluative skills.
  • Monitor progress through effective assessment and provide detailed, constructive feedback.
  • Contribute proactively to curriculum development and departmental initiatives.
  • Support wider enrichment opportunities, including Psychology societies, guest speakers, university preparation events, and research projects.

Experience & Qualifications

  • A formal teaching qualification with UK Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) (e.g. PGCE, BEd, or equivalent).
  • A relevant undergraduate degree in Psychology or a closely related discipline.
  • Strong subject knowledge across core areas of Psychology and current examination specifications.
  • Excellent communication, organisational, and classroom management skills.
  • A valid legal right to work within the United Kingdom.

What the School Offers

  • A competitive salary package paid on the MPS/UPS scale.
  • Modern teaching facilities and excellent learning resources.
  • A supportive and approachable Senior Leadership Team that values staff wellbeing and professional autonomy.
  • Outstanding CPD and clear opportunities for career progression.
  • A collaborative Social Sciences department where ideas, resources, and best practice are regularly shared.
  • A welcoming school community with highly motivated students and a positive learning culture.
