Surrey Cricket Foundation (SCF)

SCF is the charitable arm of Surrey County Cricket Club, committed to Making More Happen for people and communities across the county. We deliver and support recreational cricket by creating More Games for players of all ages, developing More Places for cricket to thrive, championing More Inclusion across every part of the sport, and opening More Opportunities to Change Lives through the power of cricket.

Working with schools, clubs, community groups and partners, we introduce people to cricket, provide pathways for players and volunteers, support facility development, and invest in coaches and officials. Our goal is simple: to ensure cricket is welcoming, accessible and impactful in every corner of Surrey and south London.

Work Placement Overview
SCF is seeking a placement student to provide essential and high‑quality support across the organisation. The successful person will be responsible for supporting in various roles across all four departments, giving a broad range of experience and skills development by the end of the placement.


Key Responsibilities


Duties
  • Support SCF’s digital communications by monitoring social media engagement, maintaining and updating the SCF website, and assisting in producing monthly newsletters and marketing materials to ensure consistent, accurate and engaging content.
  • Support the planning and delivery of SCF and Kia Oval events, including match‑day activations, ticket allocation and distribution, and associated administrative duties.
  • Assist in the planning and delivery of a range of community events such as school competitions, disability cricket and softball competitions. Communicating with stakeholders pre, during and post events.
  • Support junior and adult cricket league administration, including checking and locking results, monitoring fixtures and concessions, processing reports and assisting with audits.
  • Manage and maintain accurate programme data by creating and updating weekly school and community session records across our reporting systems and monitoring administration systems to ensure information is complete and up to date.
  • Support programme reporting and development by preparing reports including demographic breakdowns and case‑study information.
  • Provide customer and stakeholder support, including responding to parent and participant enquiries, making venue bookings and related administrative tasks.

Skills, Knowledge & Expertise


Essential for this role
This role is only open to undergraduate students doing a 9-12 months work placement as part of their university course.
  • Undergraduate requiring a work placement for 9-12 months for the 2027/28 academic year as part of a degree programme
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Computer literacy, including MS Office
  • Attention to detail
  • Time management skills
  • Ability to work autonomously and as part of a team
  • Organisational and planning skills
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines
  • Flexibility regarding working pattern
Desirable for this role
  • A keen interest and understanding of cricket
  • An interest in a career in sport
Flexibility around working hours and travel to locations within Surrey and south London are vital to the success of this role.

The successful candidate will need to work during at least one cricket season (April-September) at start or end of placement year.

The successful candidate must pass an ECB (England & Wales Cricket Board) Basic DBS (disclosure & Barring Service) check, have a placement-year requirement as part of their degree and have the right to work in the United Kingdom for the period of the placement with no restrictions. There will be no sponsorship available.
