Marine Engineer – Mylor Yacht Harbour, Cornwall

Mylor Yacht Harbour is a thriving marina, harbour and boatyard in a beautiful location on the South Cornwall coast offering a full range of boating repair and refit services as part of our berthing, mooring and leisure facilities.

An opportunity has arisen within our Marine Team Engineering Department for an experienced Marine Engineer to join the small, friendly team to carry out maintenance, servicing and repair work on a variety of leisure and small commercial boats.

The ability to provide excellent customer service and a high standard of work is essential for this role, along with experience of marine engines and other marine equipment.

Mylor Yacht Harbour is a main dealer for Yanmar, FPT, Suzuki and Vetus engines so any experience in these brands would be an advantage.

Marine Engineer Position - Overview

  • Carry out mechanical and electrical servicing, fault finding and repairs to inboard and outboard engines and associated equipment
  • Sea trial boats after repair as necessary, if not suitably qualified, training will be given
  • Work both on site at Mylor and at other boating locations nearby
  • Maintain familiarity with current equipment, products and features, attending training when required
  • Liaise with customers, administrators and senior engineer as required
  • Hours of work are Monday to Friday, 8am to 4:30pm

Marine Engineer Position – Requirements

  • Previous marine engineering experience in a similar environment is essential (3 - 5 years)
  • Previous work or training within a main dealership organisation such as Yanmar, FPT, Suzuki or similar is favourable
  • Must comply with company health & safety policies, procedures, and risk assessments to always ensure a safe working environment
  • Full UK driving licence required
