Experienced Barista & Hospitality Team Member

Full-time | Permanent

Every September we sadly say goodbye to some fantastic team members as they head off to university, so we're looking for someone who isn't just after a temporary job, but someone who wants to become part of our team for the long term.

We're an award-winning, independent hospitality business that's unlike anywhere else. Under one roof you'll find our busy restaurant and tearoom, artisan bakery and gift shop. We serve breakfast, brunch and lunch alongside artisan coffee, matcha, milkshakes, coolers, cocktails, wine and much more. We also have our own in-house bakery producing beautiful artisan cakes and sweet treats, making us a true destination venue.

We're incredibly proud of the reputation we've built, and it shows in how busy we are. Our bookable tables are consistently fully booked, and alongside our walk-in customers, takeaway service, al fresco dining and private hire events, there's always something happening. No two days are ever the same, and if you enjoy being busy, love working with people and get real satisfaction from delivering exceptional service, you'll fit right in.

The Role

Your main role will be based in our busy restaurant and tearoom, where you'll be looking after our customers from the moment they arrive until they leave. This is a front-of-house position, working alongside our chefs not in the kitchen. You'll be serving our breakfast, brunch and lunch menu, preparing artisan coffees and speciality drinks, delivering food and drinks to tables, and ensuring every customer leaves having had a fantastic experience.

Although your main focus will be front of house, we like everyone in the team to understand the wider business, so you'll also receive training in our gift shop. We believe the more you know, the more confident and valuable you'll become, while keeping every day varied and interesting.

This is a hands-on role for someone who enjoys getting stuck in. We don't believe in standing around waiting to be told what to do, we all support one another, spot what needs doing and work together to keep the business running smoothly.

What You'll Be Doing

  • Preparing consistently excellent artisan coffees and speciality drinks.
  • Serving breakfast, brunch and lunch with confidence and professionalism.
  • Delivering food and drinks to customers and providing exceptional table service.
  • Taking customer orders and offering recommendations from our menu.
  • Learning about our artisan bakery products and helping customers choose from our range of freshly baked cakes and treats.
  • Working closely alongside our chefs to ensure smooth and efficient service.
  • Supporting the gift shop when required.
  • Maintaining exceptional cleanliness and presentation standards.
  • Helping create the warm, welcoming atmosphere we're known for.

What We're Looking For

We're looking for someone who:

  • Has previous barista experience and can produce consistently excellent coffee.
  • Is passionate about hospitality and genuinely enjoys looking after people.
  • Thrives in a busy environment and enjoys the buzz that comes with it.
  • Takes pride in doing every job properly and to a high standard.
  • Is reliable, hardworking and organised.
  • Doesn't wait to be told what to do, they notice what needs doing and get on with it.
  • Enjoys working as part of a close-knit team.
  • Has good literacy, numeracy and a solid academic background, with the confidence to learn new systems and procedures.
  • Is computer literate and comfortable using tills, ordering systems, emails and basic administration, as you'll be involved in tasks such as placing orders, cashing up and other day-to-day operational responsibilities.
  • Has excellent communication skills and a positive attitude.
  • Wants a permanent role and is looking to grow with our business.

Development Opportunities

We're passionate about developing our team and promoting from within whenever we can. Whilst this role is primarily front of house, there are opportunities to learn about other areas of the business if that's something you'd like to explore in the future. Several members of our team are fantastic bakers and have grown their skills over time with us.

Hours

We are open Thursday, Friday, Saturday, Sunday and Monday.

Typical working hours are 8:30am until around 4:00pm, although flexibility is important as we occasionally host private hire events and are open later on Friday evenings.

Weekend working is an essential part of the role.
