About the Role

We are looking for a reliable and hardworking Kitchen Porter to join our catering team at Arm in Cambridge. This is an important role at the heart of the kitchen, supporting chefs and ensuring the kitchen runs smoothly, safely, and efficiently.

As a Kitchen Porter, you will help maintain high standards of cleanliness, organisation, and food safety, ensuring the kitchen team can focus on delivering excellent food and service.

Key Responsibilities

Cleaning & Hygiene

  • Maintain high standards of cleanliness in all kitchen and back-of-house areas
  • Wash, sanitise, and store crockery, utensils, and kitchen equipment
  • Keep pot wash, sinks, and dishwashers running smoothly during service
  • Follow cleaning schedules and record completion when required
  • Ensure cleaning chemicals are handled safely in line with COSHH procedures
  • Report maintenance or hygiene issues to the Sous Chef or Head Chef

Food Preparation Support

  • Assist chefs with basic food preparation such as washing, peeling, chopping, and portioning
  • Support kitchen setup and mise-en-place for daily service
  • Follow food safety, allergen, and hygiene procedures at all times
  • Label, store, and rotate food correctly under chef supervision

Waste & Recycling

  • Manage kitchen waste and recycling safely and efficiently
  • Ensure waste areas are clean and organised

  • Good awareness of cleanliness and hygiene standards
  • Previous kitchen experience is helpful but not essential – training will be provided
