About you

Exciting opportunities are available for qualified Midwives who want to be part of an internationally well-regarded maternity team and make a positive impact while working in a dynamic, multi-disciplinary, and supportive team.

Positions are available across New Zealand in hospital, community and rural-based placements, with immediate start dates, or you can speak with our recruitment team about your plans to move to New Zealand.

Midwifery in New Zealand

From pre-conception through to around six weeks postnatal, midwives are the primary providers of lead maternity care, with over 90% of women choosing a midwife as their Lead Maternity Carer (LMC). We advocate for a respectful and safe approach involving multiple services to deliver strength and recovery-focused care that is culturally safe, evidence-based and values-based.

Practitioners need to meet competency standards and hold Annual Practising Certificates (APCs) to work safely and effectively. For more information, please visit our Career site.

Salary and benefits:

  • Registered Midwives: annual salaries range GBP ~£37K - £50K (NZD $82K - NZD $108K) plus allowances
  • Community Midwives: annual salaries range GBP ~£38K - £52K (NZD $83K - NZD $115K) plus allowances
  • Senior Designated Midwives: annual salaries range GBP ~£52K - £74K (NZD $115K - NZD $162K) plus allowances

Additional allowances are paid on top of base salary and vary due to location and service.

You'll also receive:

  • 4 weeks of annual leave
  • 12 paid public holidays
  • Ongoing professional development (unionised members receive a GBP ~£455 (NZD $1,000) education allowance annually)
