Salary: Competitive + Benefits
Job Type: Full-Time, Permanent

About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Desk-Based Loss Adjuster to join our expanding property claims team. This is a fully remote position focused on the handling and investigation of commercial premises, landlord, and domestic property claims, with a particular emphasis on reviewing subsidence-related claims, reviewing and validating claim policies, schedules and statement of facts alongside specialist engineering reports who’s responsibilities are to validate the peril.

The successful candidate will be responsible for validating policy coverage, assessing liability, alongside reviewing expert reports on causation, and making informed indemnity decisions while delivering excellent customer service and maintaining technical accuracy throughout the claims lifecycle and keeping all relevant stakeholders up to date.

This role is ideally suited to an adjuster with strong experience of complex property losses and a sound understanding, interpreting and application of commercial insurance policies.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage a portfolio of commercial, landlord, and domestic property claims from notification through to settlement.
  • Review specialist reports from structural engineers to confirm the policy will respond from an insurance and adjusting perspective.
  • Validate policy coverage and confirm policy compliance before liability and indemnity decisions are made.
  • Assess claims in line with policy terms, conditions, exclusions, warranties, and endorsements.
  • Identify signs of fraud, misrepresentation, underinsurance, or policy breaches and escalate where appropriate.
  • Liaise with policyholders, brokers, insurers, contractors, engineers, solicitors, and other stakeholders throughout the claims process.
  • Produce clear and accurate reports detailing findings, liability decisions, reserve recommendations, and claim outcomes.
  • Ensure claims are handled in line with FCA regulations, insurer service standards, and internal governance requirements.
  • Maintain accurate reserves and identify opportunities for claim mitigation and cost control.
  • Potentially negotiate settlement outcomes and authorise payments within delegated authority levels.
  • Provide technical guidance to colleagues when required, particularly on policy interpretation and complex property claims.

Skills & Experience Required

Essential

  • Previous experience working as a Loss Adjuster, Property Adjuster, or Technical Property Claims Handler.
  • Proven experience handling commercial property insurance claims.
  • Strong knowledge of landlord and domestic property insurance products.
  • Experience reviewing structural engineers' reports and specialist investigations relating to subsidence claims.
  • Excellent understanding of policy interpretation, indemnity, causation, and claim validation.
  • Ability to work independently in a fully remote environment.
  • Strong report writing, analytical, and decision-making skills.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management abilities.
  • Familiarity with FCA regulations and fair customer outcomes.

Desirable

  • Cert CILA, AdvCert CILA, Dip CILA or working towards professional qualifications.
  • Experience handling complex subsidence claims.
  • Knowledge of business interruption claims associated with commercial property losses.
  • Experience working for a loss adjusting practice, insurer, or third-party administrator.

What We're Looking For

We are looking for a technically strong adjuster who can confidently challenge and interpret specialist reports, make sound coverage and causation decisions, and manage claims efficiently without the need for field visits. You will be comfortable dealing with commercial property policies and possess the expertise to ensure claims are handled accurately, fairly, and proactively.

Benefits

  • Fully remote working
  • Competitive salary + benefits
  • Pension contribution
  • Professional qualification support (CILA)
  • 25 days annual leave plus bank holidays

If you have a solid loss adjusting background, strong commercial property claims experience, and expertise in reviewing subsidence investigations and policy validation, we'd love to hear from you.

Pay: Up to £55,000.00 per year

Experience:

  • Stakeholder management: 1 year (preferred)
  • Loss Adjusting Background: 1 year (preferred)
  • Commercial Policy Knowledge: 1 year (preferred)
  • Property Claims Insurance: 1 year (preferred)

Work authorisation:
