Job Purpose
We are seeking an experienced Registered Service Manager to take responsibility for the overall leadership, management, and regulatory compliance of our OFSTED-registered supported accommodation for young people aged 16-25. You will ensure the home meets all legal, regulatory, and quality standards, and provide safe, supportive, and person-centred care that helps young people achieve positive outcomes.
Key Responsibilities
- Be the Registered Person with OFSTED, ensuring full compliance with regulations and standards
- Lead, manage, and support the staff team to deliver high-quality care and support
- Ensure safeguarding is central to all practice, and respond effectively to safeguarding concerns
- Develop, review and oversee individual support plans, risk assessments, and placement plans
- Maintain effective working relationships with social workers, local authorities, families, and other professionals
- Oversee recruitment, supervision, appraisal, and training of staff
- Manage the home’s budget and ensure appropriate use of financial resources
- Ensure readiness for and positive outcomes from OFSTED inspections, Reg 44 visits, and other audits
- Monitor service performance and implement improvements based on feedback, quality assurance, and inspection recommendations
- Promote the rights, choices, and well-being of young people, and support them to achieve independence
Person Specification
- Passionate about improving outcomes for vulnerable young people
- Strong leadership, management, and organisational skills
- Able to build positive, professional relationships with young people, staff, and external stakeholders
- Resilient, proactive, and solution-focused
Essential Requirements
- Minimum 2 years’ experience managing or deputising in a regulated children’s home, supported accommodation, or similar setting
- NVQ Level 5 Diploma in Leadership for Health & Social Care (Children & Young People’s Residential) or equivalent — or willingness to work towards within 12-18 months
- Proven track record of working with OFSTED and understanding of Children’s Homes Regulations / Supported Accommodation guidance
- Strong safeguarding knowledge and experience managing safeguarding concerns
- Ability to lead and motivate a staff team to deliver high standards of care
Desirable
- Full UK driving licence
- Experience working with young people with complex needs (e.g. mental health, offending behaviour, substance misuse, asylum seekers)
