About Buyline

Buyline is a fast-growing UK retail finance provider, partnering with retailers (Business Partners) to deliver flexible, responsible finance solutions to customers.

We operate in a highly regulated environment and are committed to delivering excellent customer outcomes, with a particular focus on Consumer Duty, vulnerability, and third-party oversight.

As we continue to expand, we are looking for a Compliance Monitoring Manager to strengthen our second-line oversight and ensure our control framework remains robust and effective.

The Role

The Compliance Monitoring Manager will play a key role in delivering Buyline’s compliance monitoring framework, with a particular focus on customer outcomes, merchant conduct, and regulatory compliance.

This is a hands-on role requiring strong analytical capability, stakeholder management, and the ability to provide meaningful challenge to the business.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design and execute a risk-based compliance monitoring plan across key business areas
  • Conduct thematic reviews covering:
  • Customer outcomes (Consumer Duty)
  • Financial promotions
  • Affordability and credit decisions
  • Vulnerable customer treatment
  • Deliver Business Partner and third-party oversight reviews, including:
  • Sales practices (in-store, digital, telephone)
  • Quality assurance and mystery shopping insight
  • Identification of conduct risks and control gaps
  • Analyse MI (complaints, arrears, QA outcomes) to identify emerging risks and trends
  • Produce clear, concise reports for senior management and governance forums
  • Track and challenge remediation actions to ensure timely resolution of issues
  • Support regulatory engagement and ensure adherence to:
  • FCA Handbook (including CONC)
  • Consumer Duty expectations
  • Contribute to the ongoing development of the compliance monitoring framework

Experience & Skills

Essential

  • 2–5 years’ experience in consumer credit, ideally within a regulated environment
  • Strong understanding of FCA regulation, particularly:
  • CONC
  • Consumer Duty
  • Proven experience managing and overseeing third parties, including Business Partner, and brokers.
  • Experience delivering compliance monitoring reviews or audits
  • Strong analytical skills and ability to interpret MI and identify risk trends
  • Excellent written skills, with experience producing Board- or committee-level reports
  • Confident stakeholder management, with ability to provide independent challenge

Desirable

  • Experience within retail finance or point-of-sale lending
  • Knowledge of vulnerability frameworks and customer outcome testing
  • Exposure to multi-channel sales environments (digital, in-store, telephone)
  • Experience in financial promotions or Business Partner oversight
