Job Description Summary

Supports the delivery of regulatory governance and regulatory relationship activities across BP's regulated entities in the UK and Europe. Responsible for coordinating regulatory notifications and submissions, supporting regulated entity Boards and governance forums, maintaining compliance documentation, assisting with regulatory investigations and STOR processes, and contributing to the effective operation of the Senior Managers & Certification Regime (SMCR). Works closely with Compliance, Legal, Risk, Operations and business partners to ensure regulatory obligations are met and governance processes remain effective.

About the Job

We're looking for a Compliance Manager to join our Ethics & Compliance team, supporting regulatory governance and regulatory relationship activities across the UK and Europe.

In this role, you'll work closely with Compliance, Legal, Risk and business stakeholders to help ensure that BP's regulated entities meet their regulatory obligations and maintain robust governance arrangements. You will provide support across a diverse range of activities including regulatory engagement, Board governance, regulatory reporting, SMCR administration, compliance framework documentation, and regulatory investigations.

This role offers significant exposure to senior stakeholders, regulators and cross-functional initiatives, making it an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys working across multiple fields within a dynamic regulatory environment.

What You Will Be Doing

You'll contribute to a broad range of regulatory governance and regulatory relationship activities, including:

  • Supporting engagement with regulatory authorities, including coordinating regulatory notifications, submissions and responses to regulatory requests.
  • Preparing and coordinating periodic regulatory returns and other regulatory reporting obligations.
  • Supporting corporate governance activities for regulated entities, including Board and Committee meeting coordination, preparation of materials and maintenance of governance records.
  • Drafting, reviewing and maintaining compliance manuals, policies, procedures and governance documentation.
  • Supporting the operation of the Senior Managers & Certification Regime (SMCR), including Statements of Responsibilities, certifications, regulatory references and regulator interactions.
  • Supporting the assessment, investigation and submission of Suspicious Transaction and Order Reports (STORs) and maintaining appropriate records.
  • Tracking regulatory developments and supporting implementation activities across regulated entities.
  • Preparing governance reporting and management information for senior management, Boards and Committees.
  • Contributing to regulatory remediation programmes and cross-functional business projects.
  • Working closely with Legal, Risk, Operations, Technology and business partners to ensure regulatory obligations are met and governance processes remain effective.
  • Building strong working relationships across global teams to promote consistency, clarity and standard methodology.

Key Skills and Experience

  • Experience within Compliance, Risk, Regulatory Affairs, Legal, Governance, or a related control function.
  • Understanding of financial services regulatory frameworks and governance requirements.
  • Strong project coordination and stakeholder management skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Experience preparing materials for senior management or boards.
  • Ability to handle contending priorities and work independently.
  • Strong attention to detail and a proactive approach to problem-solving.
