We have a unique opportunity to offer roles within the Chief Operating Office that will help shape the future of Royal London, across several disciplines.
Our Chief Operating Office (COO) works across Royal London to help deliver the Group’s strategic ambitions. We work in partnership to deliver operational excellence, drive innovation, enhance customer experience, and protect our business from threats impacting our industry.
We are the largest business unit within Royal London, bringing together thousands of colleagues to look after millions of customers to deliver great outcomes for customers. Our business focuses on aligning colleagues, applications and projects with our three value streams: Long Term Savings, Protection & Equity Release, and Long Standing Customers & Annuities. These roles form part of the Long Term Savings value stream.
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Lead Software Engineer in Web Development to join our dynamic team at Royal London. As a Lead Software Engineer, you will play a crucial role in providing technical expertise to help our teams design, develop, test, and implement efficient solutions that meet business and customer requirements.
The successful candidate will have a real impact into how Royal London develop our applications and will provide a blend of both solid leadership experience and technical expertise.
You will be given the opportunity to grow your career within a team focussed on promoting internal career progression. This role is focussed on our exciting new Pensions Application stack and contributes to our purpose of strengthening the mutual choice for our customers, by providing the best technology solutions to our customers.
About the role
- Modernising our technology is fundamental to realising our ambitions and achieving sustained competitive advantage. It will allow us to develop an innovative and leading proposition, achieve speed to market and ongoing pace of change, and maintain a competitive cost-to-develop and cost-to-serve.
- We are forming new engineering capability in our Alderley Park office to deliver and maintain a new technology solution which will support our financial product offering. We have more than 80 vacancies for people to be part of this exciting opportunity.
About you
- Leading in the development of complex technical solutions, managing own workload and that of the developers in the team.
- Strong proficiency in Angular and modern front-end development, with experience building scalable, maintainable web applications using industry best practice.
- Providing technical advice and guidance to other software developers, proactively and reactively.
- Taking responsibility for ensuring that all code meets Royal London Group standards, guidelines, and quality gates for given technologies.
- Encouraging close collaboration with other disciplines within the team and with dependent teams. Taking an active role on the transfer of knowledge and sharing of experiences relating to own area of technical expertise at practice level.
