This is an ICT Level 3 Apprenticeship role - split 80/20 between employment with the employer, and learning & gaining qualifications with Solveway Apprenticeships!

This is a fantastic opportunity to gain hands-on experience in a dynamic IT environment, supporting critical systems and services while developing essential skills for a thriving career in technology. You'll apply your learning directly within the workplace, making a real impact from day one.

About the Role

We are looking for an enthusiastic IT Support Apprentice to join our school and develop hands-on experience supporting staff and students with their day-to-day technology needs.

You’ll work alongside an experienced IT team, providing remote and in-person support while gaining practical experience across cloud systems, networks, hardware, software and new technology roll-outs. This is an ideal opportunity for someone looking to build a career in IT.

What You'll Be Doing

  • Provide first-line IT support to staff and students.
  • Resolve technical issues through remote and face-to-face support.
  • Support cloud-based systems, applications and user accounts.
  • Assist with network and Wi-Fi troubleshooting.
  • Set up, configure and maintain laptops, PCs, tablets, printers and other hardware.
  • Carry out basic hardware maintenance and fault diagnosis.
  • Help with new hardware and technology roll-outs across the school.
  • Install software, updates and security patches.
  • Support classroom technology including interactive displays and projectors.
  • Maintain IT equipment and asset records.
  • Escalate more complex technical issues to the wider IT team.
  • Learn how to identify, diagnose and resolve a wide range of IT problems.

What We're Looking For

  • A genuine interest in IT and technology.
  • Good problem-solving and communication skills.
  • A willingness to learn and develop new technical skills.
  • A friendly and patient approach to supporting users.
  • Good organisation and attention to detail.
  • No previous professional IT experience is required — enthusiasm and a willingness to learn are key.

What You'll Gain

This apprenticeship will give you practical experience across IT support, cloud computing, networking, hardware, troubleshooting, cybersecurity and technology deployment, providing a strong foundation for a long-term career in IT

Future Prospects:

After successfully completing the Level 3 Information Communications Technician apprenticeship, the apprentice will have developed practical IT support skills, technical knowledge and professional workplace behaviours to support progression within the organisation.

The apprentice may be considered for progression onto a higher apprenticeship, such as the Advanced IT Level 4 programme, subject to performance and business needs.
