Joining Arup

Arup’s purpose, shared values and collaborative approach has set us apart for over 75 years, guiding how we shape a better world.

Arup is the creative force at the heart of many of the world’s most prominent projects in the built and natural environment. Working in more than 140 countries, the firm’s designers, engineers, architects, planners, consultants, and technical specialists work with our clients on innovative projects of the highest quality and impact. As a wholly independent organisation, we are owned in trust for the benefit of our employees and their dependants: with no shareholders or external investors we determine our own business priorities and direction.

The Opportunity

We’re looking for an enthusiastic Visual Communications Specialist with a strong focus on video filming and editing, alongside confident graphic design capability. You’ll join a supportive Visual Communications team (that includes Graphic Designers, Illustrators and Animators) working across the UKIMEA region, collaborating with designers, marketers, and stakeholders to deliver high-quality, brand-aligned creative content that helps tell Arup’s project and people stories.

This is a hands-on role for someone who loves being behind the camera and crafting polished edits—while also being comfortable jumping into Adobe Creative Suite to produce digital assets, presentations, and design for print when needed. The variety is part of the appeal: you’ll help shape engaging content across film, motion, and design, and you’ll be encouraged to keep learning and evolving your creative practice.

Key responsibilities:

Video (primary focus)

  • Film and capture compelling footage on location and in-office (interviews, events, case studies, social-first content).
  • Edit video content into strong on-brand narrative pieces—optimised for different channels and audiences (internal/external).
  • Apply best-practice post-production techniques (editing, sound, colour correction, captions, versioning), maintaining quality and consistency.
  • Contribute to creative development: story structure, visual approach, and content planning in collaboration with the wider creative network.

Design (supporting requirement)

  • Design and produce visual communications across digital and print formats such as presentations, reports, infographics, interactive documents, social media assets, event collateral, and marketing materials.
  • Ensure all outputs are brand-compliant, accurate, and delivered to a good standard with meticulous attention to detail.
  • Organise, maintain and share assets and project files so work is easy to find, reuse, and scale.

Collaboration & delivery

  • Work closely with multidisciplinary teams and stakeholders—listening well, presenting ideas clearly, and responding constructively to feedback.
  • Manage multiple tasks and deadlines efficiently, making work and workload visible as part of a collaborative team culture.
  • Bring curiosity and fresh thinking—researching new tools and approaches, and contributing to continuous improvement in ways of working (including emerging tech and creative tools).

Is this role right for you?

You’ll be someone who combines creative flair with excellent attention to detail, and who genuinely enjoys collaborating with others to produce work that’s both impactful and craft-led.

  • Demonstrable experience producing video content end-to-end (filming + editing using Adobe Premiere Pro), with a showreel and/or portfolio to evidence it.
  • c. 2 years professional experience in visual communications / design within an in-house or agency environment (or equivalent).
  • Proficient in Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign) with a confident approach to applying brand standards.
  • Understanding of multimedia practices, including video and animation (Adobe After Effects is a plus).
  • Comfortable translating complex ideas into clear, engaging visual stories.
  • Organised, proactive, and able to manage priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Collaborative and communicative—confident in explaining creative decisions to non-designers and taking feedback well.
  • Curious and motivated to learn—interested in new tools, workflows, and the creative potential of emerging technologies.
  • A degree in a relevant field (e.g., Visual Communication / Graphic Design / Digital Design / Multimedia) or equivalent professional experience.
  • Portfolio/showreel is required as part of your application.

You’ll be part of a collaborative Visual Communications team that supports your development, encourages learning, and values high standards of craft and consistency.

You’ll work on a broad range of meaningful projects—helping teams communicate ideas with clarity and impact across UKIMEA.

You’ll have scope to contribute ideas, improve processes, and help evolve creative ways of working.
